Zürich International Airport Address

Zürich International Airport is not one of the easier airports for first-timers to navigate.. A series of buildings connected by walkways form a horseshoe around the main road and six parking garages. The Airport Shopping Center is the first building that passengers reach. One floor is the train station, two floors contain shops, the bus station, and Check-In 3. The final floor houses two parking garages. Behind the Airport Shopping Center is the Airside Centre with the other two check-ins, both arrivals, and more shops and restaurants. Gate A, Gate B, and Gate/Dock E, as well as the six parking garages, office buildings, and cargo flight areas complete the main areas of the airport.

Because of the airport's structure, it can seem rather daunting to newcomers, and some experienced travelers suggest visiting the day before to get a feel for where passengers need to go the day of their flight. Those flying into Zürich International Airport will do well to print out a terminal map and look it over before traveling to avoid frustration while traveling. Additionally, tourists should pay attention to the signs within the airport and they should not have a hard time getting to their gate.

The airport is located within ten miles of downtown Zürich and serves a number of airlines from around the world. There are many transportation methods available to bring passengers into the city and the roads are easy to travel, so renting a car is a nice option for those who plan to do some sightseeing outside of the city limits. Passengers should be aware that Zürich International Airport hasn't completely banned smoking. There are a number of smoking areas throughout the building, so while this might not please non-smokers, smokers will find it relatively easy to get in a cigarette before boarding their flight.

Directions

The Zürich International Airport is easy reached from any direction and well marked as drivers near the airport. Those coming from the north or south should take the A51. From the north, follow the A51 and watch for airport signs. The exit ramp will be to the right. Those coming from the south should watch for signs and the airport exit ramp will be on their left.

Those coming from the east should take the main highway through Kloten. Take the left past Koten and follow airport signs. From the west, take the A1 and watch for the exit to A51. Head on A51 North and follow the signs to the airport. Remember that the exit ramp will be to the left.

Map

Realistically, Zürich International Airport is not set up like American Airports with unique terminals and concourses. The airport is one large, connected building that houses different areas including a shopping building, three different check-in areas, and three gates for arrivals and departures. The set up can seem rather confusing, but with a map in hand, it isn't too hard.

Airport Shopping Building

One of the newer areas in the airport, the majority of stores and restaurants can be found within this mall like area on the second and third floors above the rail station level. Located on two floors, the Airport Shopping Building has Internet kiosks, ATMs, post offices, access to the parking garages and bus station, the Rail Travel Center, and the Check-In 3 is located on the second floor near the Airport Outlet. The top floor of this building houses Parking 2 and Parking 3.

Check-In 3 handles Adria Airways, African Safari Airways, Air Adriatic, Air Europa, Air Italy, Austrian Airlines, Belair, Blue1, Croatia Airlines, Edelweiss Air, Freebird Airlines, Hello, Helvetic Airways, LOT, LTE International Airways, Lufthansa, MNG Airlines, Onur Air, Pegasus, SAS, Spanair, SunExpress, Swiss Charter, Swiss International Air Lines, TAP, and TUIfly

Airside Centre

Located between Gate A and Gate B, the Airside Centre is two floors and houses Check-In 1 and Check-In 2. Check-In 1 is located on the first level along with a number of stores, services, and restaurants. Check-In 2 is located on the second level with another group of stores, services, and restaurants. Airside Centre is easily reached through the Airport Shopping Building. Public Internet kiosks, currency exchange offices, and ATMs are all found in the Airside Centre. The lower floor (to the east) has the hallway leading to Gates A1 through A10, A60, and A70 to A80. The passage to Gate B is also accessible through the lower level. A third level sits below the Check-In areas and handles all arrivals sits below the Check-In levels.

Check-In 1 handles Adria Airways, Austrian Airways, Blue1, BMI British Midland, Croatia Airlines, LOT, Lufthansa, SAS, Spanair, and Swiss International Airlines. A small number of stores and restaurants are adjacent to the Check-In 1 area.

Check-In 2 handles flights for Aer Lingus, Aeroflot, Air Baltic, Air Berlin, Air Canada, Air France, Air Malta, Air Mauritius, Air One, Air India, Alitalia, American Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Bulgaria Air, Cirrus Airlines, City Airline, Clickair, Continental Airlines, Corendon, CSA Czech Airlines, Cyprus Airways, Delta Air Lines, Dubrovnik Airline, EgyptAir, El Al, Emirates, European Air Express, Finnair, Fly Niki, Germanwings, Hamburg International, Iberia, Icelandair, Japan Airlines, JAT Airways, KLM, Korean Air Lines, Malaysia Airlines, Malev, MAT Macedonian Airlines, Montenegro Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle, OLT, GmbH, Portugalia,

Pulkovo Aviation, Qatar Airways, Robin Hood, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian Airlines, SATA International, Singapore Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Thai Airways, Tunisair, Turkish Airlines, Ukraine International Airlines, and US Airways. A number of stores and restaurants are adjacent to Check-In 2. On the lowest level of the Airside Centre are the two arrival areas and baggage claim areas. Arrival 1 is located on the right hand side of the ground floor beneath both sides of the Airside Centre and is linked to Gate A through a lower level hallway. Arrival 2 is on the left side of that same floor.

Gate

Gate A is located behind the Airside Center's Check-In 1. Gate A serves the airlines that are processed by Check-In 1.

Gate B

Gate B is also referred to as the "Event Dock." Typically, the airlines that are processed by Check-In 2 are handled by Gate B, though this can change during times of high peak travel.

Gate/Dock E

Underground trains are used to transport passengers from Gate B to the more distant Gate/Dock E. There are a number of storees and cafes found in Dock E so that passengers can browse shops or get a quick bite to eat while awaiting flights. Four floors make up Dock E. The trains arrive at the G01 (Basement) level and then passengers take elevators to the upstairs. On the first floor (G1), Gates E18, E19, E62, E64, and E67 are located. Floor G2 houses Gates E22 to E27, E34 to E37, E42 to E47, and E52 to E58. First Aid is located on Floor G3 along with a number of restaurants and shops. In general, those going through Check-In 3 will fly from Gate E.
