Beware if it is a Holiday!Positiv: Location was close to place I was staying.
Negativ: I know pickup was on July 4th. But was traveling from Missouri to Arkansas on that day. I did not receive a call or email from Avis stating that they would be closing early on the 4th. Otherwise I would have left MS earlier to make it to AVIS by noon. We called customer service to see if there was another pick up location that was open. It was at an airport 2 hrs away and they wanted to charge us $150 more. Thank goodness my flight was not until the afternoon on the 5th, which allowed me to pick it up early that morning before traveling to Oklahoma. I was not happy! CS was not helpful either as far as problem solving.
Hidden tax!Positiv: Nothing at allNegativ: Hidden sales tax of 22.5%. Not in Kayak quote and according to my research not the law in Arkansas. Tried to resolve over the phone and Avis rep totally useless. Second bad experience in a row with Avis. Never again!

If price is the factor, this is your car Positiv: Basically I liked the car, and the price was good.Negativ: You get what you pay for, this was the cheapest car available, but it had nothing except air conditioning. It would have been great had the car had cruise control.
PoorNegativ: My rental ended up costing waaaaay more than originally quoted. I travel ever week and the ONE time I use a personal card to pay for a trip it is 3 or 4x the original cost.

Rental of Mustang ConvertiblePositiv: Rental process was essentially effortless, staff were well mannered and very helpful. Car was fun to drive and made for a great weekend. Negativ: Nothing except the rear passenger tire had a slow puncture so the low tire alert went off as soon as I started up the car. I had to get on road so put air on it as soon as I was able. It had to be inflated quite a few times throughout the rental. I called the roadside asssit, they came out to put the spare tire on, but that would not work as I had to travel over 500 miles. It would have been nice to have got it fixed properly but we made do.
Bentonville to Austin Car RentalPositiv: Easy to make reservation one day before needing and for a one-way trip. They also had the most reasonable prices for this trip. We wanted a standard size car and they had a minivan which worked well.Negativ: Having to drop the vehicle off at Austin Bergstrom Int'l Airport which is an hour each way from our house. No fun at end of 500+ mile trip.
Positiv: Excellent fast service at the counter when I rented the vehicle at the Bentonville, AR airport.

Great Value, great service!Positiv: The price was great and the folks at the counter were so friendly. It was very easy to find the vehicle in the lot as well.
Positiv: The rental counter what literally steps away from baggage claim and the clerk had everything ready. I was finished just a moment after my son pick up the baggage.

Quick service, pick of cars, easy returnPositiv: The cars were parked right outside the door. The agent said what cars were available and gave me my choice of three different ones. The car was clean, low miles, and had a full tank of gas. Simple enough, but increasingly not a given with other rental companies. Oh, and their price was the lowest available.Negativ: They ask you to self-report your milage upon return, which I am never going to remember to do.
Positiv: That it was at the air port easy pick up and drop off
They saved me from myselfPositiv: I was careless with the dates and long story short almost reserved the car for two weeks instead of three days! Fortunately the lady at the desk pointed out the mistake and we were able to get the right dates (there may have been a $10 charge for this but that's better than cancelling me altogether). New, clean car. Hassle free.
Negativ: Charged twice as much as initially told
Still waiting.....................Negativ: Front tires were bald and car had 46k miles. Had to drop off at an alternate airport b/c of winter storm Jonas. I notified Dollar in advance of the change and was told an approximate amount of 2.5x over the initial premium to drop at another airport. Nothing like gouging stranded travelers. Dropped at airport with no employee on duty b/c of snowy weather. Haven't been able to get a final bill for the changes. Emailed 3 times and no response after 1 week+. Called customer support and was told a receipt would be shipped within 24 hours...that was four days ago.
Extremely frustrating to deal with and disappointed with overall experience. Can hardly wait to get $1200 bill for 5 day rental of compact car.

Negativ: Luggage space in standard car is crazy small
Negativ: They had no cars available even though I booked online. They then required me to go to another company, pay double the rate and then mail the paperwork in to get a refund. I had to do all the work for their mistake. The desk attendant/manager was then very rude about the situation.
Negativ: It was 9 pm and I had a reservation and they did not had rented all there cars. Never will book with dollar or kayak again taking app of phone. Not reliable or helpful

Incredibly easy and hassle free rental processPositiv: The friendliest staff I've ever encountered while renting a car. The cars have always operated well, no surprises on unpleasantries. The pickup process has been a little inconsistent, varying from Okay to Incredible. Negativ: I went to go get my car from the pickup lot and could not find it for a while. The lot had a non-sequential numbering system that made it difficult to find spot 46.
Over sellingPositiv: Sales pressure was a bit muchNegativ: The car we reserved wasnt quite ready but for an additional 3 a day you can get this car. Too much sales pressure
Negativ: Upgraded our rental and did not charge drop fee as we were helping them relocate cars from airport to Fayetteville AR location.
Excellent servicePositiv: The car is actually located at the airport, not off-airport. Easy 1 minute walk from counter to car.

Will never use againPositiv: We called to let them know our flight was delayed. To come to find out the car was reserved not at the airport like I requested, (I selected Fayettville Airport), but it was reserved one town over in the middle of nowhere, we had to take a $45 Cab, got there as they were closing, the lady said we had to have the ful coverage insurance that was an add-on of $32 a day, we were there for my Mother-in-law's funeral a d the car rental was one of the horrific experiences in traveling we have ever had. Just mad a hard time harder.Negativ: We called to let them know our flight was delayed. Positiv: Ease of pick up and drop off.Negativ: I had a problem with a 70 $ difference in the price online versus in-store. However, the nice gentleman behind the counter adjusted the price!
Cheap and dirty vanPositiv: Tons of storage. Negativ: The van was dirty. When I called to let them know they offered to clean it but I was already home and didn't want to go back. I ended up cleaning it at home. It had chunks of mud inside the van. It looked like someone had taken the mini van off roaring. If I could give a zero for cleanliness, I would.
The windshield was dirty and had chips in it. When I called they said it was from a hail storm. I get it, they can't control the storm. But they can fix the issue prior to renting out the car. Wipers were in terrible shape and there was no windshield washer fluid. Car handled poorly at highway speeds. Needs at minimum balance if not alignment. Tires are wearing abnormally and the van pulls to one side. The antenna on the radio didn't work. And despit stating it had satellite radio, it didn't.
When I told the agent at return, he didn't really seem to care or want to remedy it. They did give me $50 credit for cleaning the van.
I will not rent from Hertz again.

Who knew?Negativ: Who knew that they do not accept debit cards for payment unless you have a "return flight ticket"? Really upset that I could not rent a car because I don't have a "credit" card.

Best Car Rental Experience I Have Ever HadPositiv: Everyone was so prompt, kind, professional, and the car was a great one for the price that I paid! I wish that I had this sort of experience with every car rental company.

Call center customer service sucks. Positiv: Great car, counter friendly, price was reasonable. Negativ: After checking in with the counter, there was no lot attendant and it was difficult finding the car, also no one there with check in and no instruction on how to proceed. Called call center and they were rude and not helpful at all. Pay a little more and get better service if that is important to you.
Negativ: i had signed up to get a specialty car not at wild card car which is what i got. I feel that is was a bait and switch and they gave me a compact car which i was not happy with or what i wanted I could of gone somewhere else and gotten a better deal.
