The location is great but be very wary of anything they offer as deluxe, luxury or with a Nile view. There is access to a roof terrace which has a bar and restaurant. This is fantastic but not belonging to the hotel so you could stay elsewhere and still have access to the terrace. The only other thing I liked was that the bedding and mattress were clean. However, I also asked for a double bed and was told only a twin room was available. I requested that the beds be pushed together to form a double and received email confirmation that this was ok. It wasn't done.
The hotel is very scruffy and shabby, we looked at four different rooms and chose the least offensive. Booked a room with a balcony and view of the Nile. What we got was a view of a building site. Had to pay extra to change rooms for one with a balcony view of the Nile. The breakfast was very basic, some bread and jam/cheese triangles, a boiled egg and tea (no milk available). It took an hour and 10 minutes to arrive from when ordered. In the end I went up to the terrace for coffee. Apart from the mattress and sheets, everything else was disgusting. The shower curtain was hanging off in rags, the bath was dirty and there was only a hand held shower which we couldn't use because the flexible pipe was damaged. Only one small towel provided for two people. The furnishings were so old and dirty we didn't even sit on the chairs. The staff in reception were rude and unhelpful. There is no WiFi available apart from in reception, it doesn't work anywhere else in the hotel. Curtains didn't close properly and the bathroom sink leaked all over the floor every time we used the tap. No toiletries available apart from bars of soap. There was a flat-screen TV in the room but all the channels we tried to access came up as available but were in fact unavailable. There were a few Arabic channels only.
The building is beautiful but has been left abandoned long time ago. The terrace is great. How come it works so well and all the other areas of the hotel are so poorly managed.
Internet does not work and if it would, it is only available in the reception. Customer orientation is extremely poor, besides for one person. The hotel is a mess, dirty, they are doing works and this is visible everywhere. There's furniture in the corridor, cement bags, and dirt. Room was old fashioned and badly maintained. The bath curtain was broken and half fallen, a plastic bag was covering the whole of the previous AC, the room was not kept well cleaned.
