Our family of four enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt! Beautiful property, centrally located and lots of fun! I let my 7 year old choose our hotel for this Aruba vacation ... she picked the Hyatt from the photos of the room (big beds) and the slide! The slide (and slide races) are so much fun!. At times it seemed the adults were enjoying it more than the kids. Poolside BINGO and pool volleyball were also a big hit. As for the beach, it's gorgeous - and you can call ahead to reserve a palapa ($35/day) so you won't have to wake at the crack of dawn. The staff (for the most part) were friendly. Some more so than others. We walked passed the other hotels we were contemplating (Marriott and Radisson) and I feel we made the best choice going with the Hyatt! The Marriott beach was not as nice and the guests looked like they were packed in like sardines. The Radisson (which we stayed in and liked) was nice and the Happy Hour crowd seemed to REALLY be enjoying themselves, but the Hyatt was def. nice...
The best hotel on palm beach. We had a great time. Not one complaint.
Just got back from our vacation. Great trip, perfect spot to stay on Palm Beach. Close to shopping areas, really clean hotel. Great for kids. Very relaxing!!!!
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, however my stay was not up to the par of a Hyatt hotel. Was not told prior to booking that several of the restaurants would be shut down and under construction, which also meant jack hammering all day every day right next to the pool. The beach cleaning left a lot to be desired. Could have done a much better/ earlier beach sea weed clean up. Also the over all cleanliness of the beach could have been better (trash, etc). Also expected beach service for food/drinks but Hyatt does not offer this. They offer this service at the pool, but good luck finding a waitress. Biggest complaint is the lack of adult only pool area. At such a hugh end expensive resort, there NEEDS to be a quite place for adults to swim without other peoples kids smacking them in the face with a volleyball or splashing, screaming, and crowding the swim up bar. Not relaxing. Over all the friendly staff, central location, and updated decor was the best. However, it was just k...
We stayed at the Hyatt for our Honeymoon. We were very pleased with our decision. This hotel is located in the High-Rise district and is right in the middle of everything you could need. You have restaurants, shopping, and beach all right there! No need for a rental car. Our absolute favorite part of where this hotel is located is the beach. It is located on a SWIMMABLE beach which was so important to us! The hotel has many nice amenities- fitness center, pool, jacuzzi, spa, shops, etc. The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean. The only thing I wish our room had was a balcony. We were in a partial ocean view room, but only a few of the larger rooms at Hyatt have a balcony. Regardless, we loved the Hyatt and would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Aruba!
We stayed for one week at the Hyatt and I'm glad we picked Hyatt over the Radisson. Hyatt was a beautiful hotel, had a gorgeous lobby and impressive view of the beach from the lobby area. The gardens, pools, bar and access to the beach were perfect. It is close to shops, restaurants and Starbucks. The staff were courteous and attentive especially the bell desk staff. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay at the Hyatt again.
My husband, I and our 2 boys just returned from our stay at the Hyatt-Aruba, and we can't wait to go back! It was everything we dreamed it would be and more. The grounds are beautiful, the pool is amazing, the hotel is lovely and the staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. The only bad thing is we never want to stay anywhere else now!
love aruba first off, you cannot beat the Hyatt or Radisson properties
My husband and I have travelled to Aruba many many times, but this is the first time we stayed at the Hyatt because it was our honeymoon. The grounds here are absolutely beautiful; however, the staff wasn't as friendly as other hotels that we have stayed at, nor were the other guests. The drinks were unreasonably expensive especially considering their size! Daily breakfast was excellent, but the other restaurants failed to WOW us. Not much of a selection and perhaps we are spolied because we have been to the island so many times and know where to find the good food. Overall, I finally took the plunge and stayed here; however, I'll take the cheaper hotels anyday! We like the homey feel of the smaller hotels...the Hyatt just seemed to stuffy for us. Would not stay here again...value for the money was not worth it.
Hyatt I would say is the best hotel in the high rise hotels area. It has an amazing beach front with lots of fun for family, honeymooners and retired folk.
The hotel has an free wifi only at the cafe. The internet I had to pay for was terrible. The hotel was nice enough to credit me, but I would really just like wifi that works well throughout the hotel.
BEAUTIFUL pool and beach area. We did appreciate that there were not a lot of children in the pool area. Palms restaurant offered a delicious veggie wrap and margaritas. Staff was responsive and polite although the check in/out process was slow. While I would recommend this hotel over any of the nearby competitors (NO comparison in the pool and lounge areas) I HIGHLY recommend that if you would like to enjoy cocktails or beer at pool or beach that you walk two hotels down where the SAME beer and drinks were HALF the price. They also give you something to carry them back in. While we expected food and drinks to be pricey $8.95 PLUS service fee for a 7 oz beer was insulting. $15 for a piña colda in a plastic cup.
When it says all inclusive it was truly all inclusive, you could book a trip to this hotel, and not spend another dime the entire trip if you wanted. One of the best resorts I've ever stayed in. The pool closed at 7pm daily, which was very strange to me, I've never stayed anywhere that the pool closed so early every night, and most resorts let their pool stay open 24 hours. And due to the alcohol being free there isn't a huge selection of brands to choose from, but it was still a great place.
Walkable to everything (even though we still had a car and drive lots). Easy to walk to to breakfast/dinner everyday. We didn't reserve a renovated King room but were given it at no cost. I didn't have much staff interaction but was impressed with them when I did. I also liked to see how thoroughly the pool was cleaned daily. It's an older resort but I feel like they've spent money updating the important things. Incredible value for what we paid. Very, very cold AC in the room. Unfortunately there was an international youth baseball tournament in Aruba the same week we were there. Just about every rowdy kid was staying at the Mill. I don't fault the Mill. They apologized for the Inconvience and did what they could to seperate us from them.
The staff was friendly. Air conditioner leaked on the tile floor that made everything slick. Called for maintenance the first day, he said it was fixed, but it still leaked. He used our pool towel to soak up the water. Tried to get it replaced the next day at the front desk, they had to make several calls to confirm our story.
The hotel was walking distance from the beach but was behind a road and and entire hotel complex from the beach. The hotel only has free wifi near the restaurant. People seemed to gather outside the restaurant for free wifi. The house keeping was also extremely inconsistent. The number and type of towels varied from day-to-day. We also didn't have toiletries or glasses in the room until day three. The room also had to remain fairly air conditioned to prevent substantial condensation which wouldn't have been an issue except the blankets on the bed were not sufficient in that condition. Finally, the hotel had no record of the reservation I had made through kayak and even when presented with confirmation information were reluctant to help resolve the issue. Ultimately ended up having to leverag kayak to resolve but ended up in a king bed when we had originally booked doubles.
The staff was very friendly. The cleanliness of the hotel overall was mediocre.
I've been there twice, and will be heading back early December. The hotel is very nice and the people are friendly. I've never had any problems with bugs like the other person mentioned. The one thing you have to understand about Aruba is the people there are not in any hurry to do anything! If you go to a restaurant and order a burger... it'll probably take a half hour before you get it.They have a very laid back and relaxed attitude about everything. The best policy is just to join them, take deep breath, and slow everything down for a while. That's what vacations are about anyway. Not a great place for teens/early 20 somethings. It's not a party hotel. The hotel is definitely geared towards adults and they won't tolerate wild parties that disrupt their other guests. Oh, I'd recommend going over your hotel bill very carefully. It's not uncommon to find mistakes where a snorkeling boat or such charged your room by mistake. That's all over Aruba, not just this hotel. Also avoid the c...
We stayed 5 nights and the hotel informed us that they were going to cut off our air in our room. We had to be in the room between 8am-9am so they could cut it off or they would cut the whole power to the room. The air would be off till 10pm to repair a broken pipe. My kids were hot and couldn't sleep. 10 came and no air. 11 came and called the desk and they said 15 minutes. At 12:15 am they came knocking on the door to turn the air back on. The hotel then sent a card saying sorry and a cheap bottle of wine. How is wine going to help my kids sleep. My wife and me don't even drink wine.
We just came back on 11/02 Hotel is nice, rooms are clean, staff is very attentive. Unfortunately, our vacation was ruined by the mosquitos. They were everywhere: at the beach, in the sand, at the pool area. We were bitten mercesly. ''Off'' repellent did not help-do not waste your money
The staff was friendly and remembered us during our stay. The room was comfortable and well equipped. There were many activities on premise which kept us busy, and the private island was beautiful. We enjoyed a couples massage and dinner for two package which was excellent. The location was right at a shopping mall and plaza with plenty to do, but it was further away from the main hotel area where the nightlife and many of our friends were staying. Taxi trips to meet our friends or go out started to add up over our stay.
The location is excellent, and access to activities through the city was very simple. Staff is very courteous, rooms were well maintained and clean. The pool area had DJ playing so loud that it was hindersome in the room in the afternoon and early evening. Pool is rather small and not enough places to relax during early evening hours. The rooms were pricey for the amenities provided. Staying at the Marriott on the west side of the island offers more amenities, larger room and less cost. But after all, it IS all about location, location, location, and the Rennaissance has it!
There was nothing I did not like! Love love love the private island!!!!! Very contemporary hotel . Love it!!! Nothing
The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and attend to your every need.
"Island View" does not mean a view of the private island. The front desk told me this means an island view as in Aruba is and island and you can view it.
Great location in the heart of Oranjastad. Easy walk to great restaurants. Very clean. The staff were wonderful, especially Berlinda who helped us with restaurant reservations. There is no real beach unless you ferry out to the private island. The island is pretty, but windy. There were no beach chairs available and even more limited if you wanted one in the shade. At the Marina, there is a modest sized pool but no beach chairs available in the mid afternoon. There is music playing all day, so there is no place in the resort for peace and quiet except your room. The room was modest sized, but a bit dated. It was quite expensive.
Wait staff was slow and not attentive at the bar at the hotel.
This hotel is outstanding - I contacted the hotel direct and upgraded to the penthouse suite, which was fantastic - would definitely recommend it for a special occasion.
A beautiful beach, a luxurious room, a true getaway. Staff was attentive, helpful, yet unobstrusive. Just lovely spot. We liked that the hotel makes a real effort to be eco-friendly. Also, there is a mini-market on premises that is reasonable. Your service was especially helpful as I realized, at almost the last minute, that I had booked the wrong days. Just the noise from the dehumidifiers, so I turned them off at night.
Snorkeling was great! Loved the ocean views Drinks were reeeeeeeeeeeally weak Wife got food poisoning
Get a first floor room. Open your sliding door and your toes are in the sand. Drinks and food are decent. You will not go Hungry or thirsty. Lots of different options for snacks and food throughout the day. We loved taking long strolls on the beach. It's awesome that you have access to the Divi. Typical routine includes getting a drink at the bunker bar, walk down and sit by the pool to people watch, get a new drink (and maybe some chicken strips), continue the walk down the beach. Nice 10 minute walk to the divi... By that time you are ready for a new drink, grab one at the first bar. Continue the walk to the divi pool and beach area, people watch, lay in the sun, listen to a live band, grab another drink and take a stroll back to the Tam. Lots of activities. Book them early so you won't be directly in the sun. We did a snorkeling/snuba trip (booked at hotel). I would highly highly recommend. We did the ATV tours and it is by far the best way to see the island. We went to the natural pools, natural bridge, an old gold refinery, and a really neat rock formation. We went downtown. And it really only took us a few hours to get a good experience. We took a cab, which was fine... But we regret not using one of the hotels bikes to ride down. We aren't horribly athletic so we didn't want to commit to a bike ride downtown in a different country. However, we drove along a really nice, flat, bike path leading directly downtown... Wished right away we did the bikes. The Spa was awesome! We did massages and a body wrap.. So relaxed. Do not bring pants... You will not wear them. Bring some nicer shorts for dinner and you will be fine. Girls, sundresses and bathing suits... No need to get too fancy. always bring extra sunscreen, expensive to buy on the island. We had to leave. Palm grill was our least favorite restaurant... But fun and worth doing once.
We've been coming to aruba for 15 yrs.. This was our 1st. yr. in our time share at the Surf Club and 3rd. year at the Marriott resorts. We Brought some friends with us who enjoyed & loved their stay. We did encounter some minor problems, ie the pool not enough lounge chairs and to many people reserving them and not using them for more than 2,3 or 4 hrs.. The beach was not yet finished and the swimming area was to small in the ocean. Over all it had to be another great trip since we booked while we were there for next year and it's possible going back this year to purchase another time share.
great time, great island (clean, safe, fun)
Very close to the beach and shopping center Drinks were very weak and staff did not record information correctly. I checked in on Monday and was staying until Friday morning, staff put me down as checking in Tueaday and leaving Thursday morning.
Overall, the Marriott Surf Club was Good. I would go there again. However, it is NOT a luxury hotel. The room could have been a bit cleaner, and the decor was nothing fancy. What I loved about it was the convenience of having a kitchenette and a washer dryer in the suite. It was also great to have a 1 bedroom with a separate living room area versus only having a regular hotel room. The hotel grounds were well maintained. There were many pools, kiddie pools, a lazy river- basically, something for everyone.
We took a family trip - all adults (brother is a time share owner). We were completely impressed. Staff was friendly, if we needed anything all we had to do was ask, everything was clean & spacious. The pool was excellent and never crowded; plenty of beach area & lounge chairs (with umbrellas). Obviously if you go during typical summer months (when the rest of the US is on vacation), you may have issues. We went in late Sept/early Oct and didn't have to deal with family with small children or children/teens period. We're going back in Sept...with different people this time...We're going to love it. Can't wait I'm so excited!
The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Clean. Could walk to other hotels. Liked the pool. The beach towel policy was a little stressful; you are given 4 in your room and expected to 4.While I understand it, we were with a group and our things were often mixed together. I had to put my towels in a bag, so they weren't accidentally used or taken
1st trip to Aruba and the Surf club. Kids loved the pool and waterslide. Rooms were great! Minor problem at one point but Staff was great throught the whole thing. Plan on going back in 2011! Loved it.....
Very new hotel and they're still working the kinks out. Airconditioner didn't work in some rooms. Vacationed with a friend and requested room with 2 double beds. When we arrived, found out that all rooms only have 1 bed w/ pull-out sofa. One of us was forced to sleep on uncomfortable sofabed. Rooms are clean and decent, but nothing to write home about. Next trip to Aruba, will probably stay elsewhere.'
We stayed at this resort in June of 2009. The rooms were very clean, well maintained, and the kitchenette was a true benefit. The resort grounds were very impressive. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was fantatistic! We enjoyed it so much, that we planned a trip to go back next year while we were still there! Overall, it was one of the best vacations ever.
Nice beach across the street. I like having a kitchen to cook. Checking in was slow. We arrived at noon, we were told our room wasn't ready yet and to come back later. We returned at 350pm and our room still wasn't ready. We did not see many cars or other people around. The guy said "we don't let any one in before 4pm". Even though this was 10 minutes away, he said come back later. He was rather rude. The rooms needed updated. The grout was filthy, tiles chipped and cracked. The music by the pool was loud and poor choice for people of all ages. The older people hated it.
Some of the staff were delightful and friendly, but the manager didn't offer any apologizes for the stained sheets. I asked for a late check in....why is that 70 bucks when my room was 120? I'm confused....so my late check out fee was waived...I check out two hours later...and no other corrections were made to make me feel better about this horrible experience. I have so much to say...not sure where to start. Oh wait - Don't Do It. This place is horrible and I'm pretty sure the worst place I have ever stayed and I've traveled to 40+ countries. The resort boasts about a renovation but this place is barely holding on. It's dated and the sheets were stained..I was transferred to another room...those sheets were stained. On top of it all, the place advertises free wifi but that's not in your room. Trust me, don't do it.
The room I booked was great, modern, clean and large. The resort is a little distant from ocean (need to walk about 200 yards) and the pools do not open until 10am with limited lounge chairs, but overall a very nice spotless resort.
size of rooms - large with kitchen and living room needs updating - more restaurants
Pool was clean and fun for the whole family, especially the waterslide. Outstanding gym, beautiful equipment. Staff was friendly. Room is adequate, clean but plain. Overall hotel is great for the price but a bit rundown in places, not luxurious in any way. Very poorly equipped kitchen. No pan for oven, lousy utensils for cooking in general. We asked for an oven pan but was informed that they don't provide one, so the oven is useless.
the service , friendl
Location Needs a renovation
Staff is friendly. Can walk to grocery store Has not been updated in years. You have to walk across busy street to the besch
I liked the new renevoted room it had everything and very specious. I like that they opened a pizza place the karaoke and happy hour. I would definitely go back there with my family. I didn't like the way I was treated by the front desk agent when I checked out. I asked to stay by the pool with the kids till 6pm and since the others left they forgot to leave their wristband so the front desk agent was rude to me telling me that I had yo bring them.
Nothing! No Wifi! To Loud! Cheap! Wants a $300 cash deposit!
This hotel is located as the first one in the zone of "High Rise Hotels" meaning that this zone contains the high buildings, being this spectacular because you have a wonderful view of the nicest ocean I've ever seen. I reccommend it widely.
Relaxing, great vieuw, romantic, nice hotel, great entertaiment, easy to find, all of all it was a great hotel didn't expect it was that nice They way you have to deal with the inventory form the staff should tell about it or take the inventory with the guest for the mis understanding because there was no superviser when you needed
The computer system had gone out the day before we left. We were told we could not check out because they were doing their audit. Also we asked for a wake-up call, which we never recieved.
Everyone at the hotel was so freindly and welcoming-- they really made our stay in Aruba a wonderful experience. The Ocean was just a short walk across the street, food was great and reasonably priced. We stayed at a high priced resort the previous week- this was a huge dissapointment-- the food was terrible, the staff barely spoke English and were rude and unpleasant.
The beach... Not really a resort-like place. Good for what we needed, a place to lay our heads at night until it was time to move to our timeshare..
The friendliness of the staff - they wanted one to "feel at home."
Very clean, Tao the bartender is awesome and Natalie is nice too. The location is great. Nice view of the ocean and not as crowded as the high rise area. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the food was good. The people in Aruba are very friendly. The beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable. Mandatory fee for breakfast which we never ate, rooms not very well insulated, so difficult to sleep through the night due to noise.
The staff here exceeds expectations above and beyond. Christie was amazing and she would make anything you wanted happen. She easily handled 3 customers in her small office without any of us feeling unimportant. The location is wonderful if you plan to spend days at the beach as the front of the hotel is across the street from a nice quiet stretch of Eagle Beach (which is stunningly beautiful). The rooms are basic and comfortable, but don't stay there if you want a lot of adventure right out your doorstep- be prepared for easy bus rides up and down the west coast or info Oranjestad for about $2.60 USD/AbFl. It's a no extra fluff, fantastic for families and people wanting a comfortable home base for adventures kind of place. We loved it! The room required the AC to be on at 22C the whole time (even when out of room) to prevent condensation. It could get a little chilly at night! The hotel restaurant was good but not so adventurous, and it did take a bus ride or a 40 min trek to some more interesting eateries.
Close to the beach Very difficult to find. Especially at night. No real directions to the hotel on website. Bed was very hard and uncomfortable.
My wife, 9 months old and I had a great time at this hotel. Our little one loved the kiddie pool and even though there were plenty of kids in the hotel, it was never crowded and always clean. The beach is just across the street and it is absolutely gorgeous. We were always able to get lounge chairs and found a shady area to relax, I gave this hotel 4 stars because the food at the one restaurant available for lunch was not that great. The staff was nice but not efficient. The casino was pretty small and it did not have a lot of choices.
-loud partying after hours, with no hotel staff to control-worn out linens, towels, blankets, beds, furniture-doors defective-dated air conditioner-further from beach than is advertised-
Very kind and helpful staff! Good experience FYI no hot water
THE LOCATION IS GOOD BUT GETTING HERE IS A LITTLE DIFFICULT ATTENTION OWNER LEAVES MUCH TO BE DESIRED, BY OUR STAY WAS HORRIBLE PLUMBING PROBLEMS SOLVED OR WE NEVER OFFERED NO SOLUTION AND MUCH LESS AN APOLOGY
The food was excellent, beach was great. Better than baby beach! Room was great but could be a little cleaner. We we're transferred from 6th to 18th floor and it was much better. Amazing view. No kids! Pool and beach was loud for too long- I think it went from 11am to 6pm... This place was expensive for $600/night. Loved every not of it except the price. Booking the restsurabts was a pain bc the only way you can reserve is waiting in line for 30-45 minutes and you aren't guaranteed and table.
The location was good, the pool and beachfront was nice. This hotel is a standard two star hotel. I had maintenance in my room each day of my stay for a problem, safe repeatedly would not open, A/C would not cut off, toilet backed up. It was just a horrible stay. Some of the food was cold and not labeled so with allergies I could not eat a lot of things. A lot of the staff did not speak even a little English so when you asked a question that just smiled. I spoke to the manager and the best he could do is give me an email to report the issues when I return. I think you get the picture...so needless to say the hotel stay part of my birthday was ruin
It's really worth it The room service menu is too short and simple, bathroom could be better
I am so soured by my bad experience, I refuse to rate any part as good. I purchased an item for my girlfriend and left it wrapped in tissue paper in a ziplock bag on a table. It disappeared. I contacted housekeeping supervisor and was told it was impossible that it was stolen/thrown away. Not satisfied with that answer I asked to speak to the hotel manager, I'm still waiting. Terrible customer service experience which will cost this chain my business forever.
