Nice river view room, clean No mention the property is distressed financially, spa, pool and restaurants are closed for "renovations". Not a lick of construction activity could be observed. Front desk at check in, shared the casino " closed last year" and will not reopen when the property is rebadged in 2016-17. Other guests were equally mislead and frequently mentioned their opinion of the deception when
I loved the restaurant inside, good food. I liked the swimming pool and how it looked inside. The staff that cleaned the rooms were nice. I didn't like the small rooms, for the price. Bathroom was small. The slot machines weren't good. Inside the gambling area, not enough action. The server that was bringing drinks on the gambling floor, was not friendly at all. They need to bring better slot machines and entertainment to get more people in there. Seems more business like and not a kid friendly place. Alot of people working there, didn't seem happy. Could be due to the rumor they're getting bought out next year.
I liked that parking was "free"(although they charge you a hotel fee so i guess it isn't really) and the rooms had a refridgerator already in them. There was a convenience store close by. The hotel was quiet and not as busy as the casinos down town. It wasn't downtown. I thought the walk would be a little shorter but due to the construction sometimes it took a little longer. Also, there was no casino for gambling.
the rooms were nice, clean. the staff was every friendly overall a nice hotel. if you are looking for just a hotel. Karl the bar tender was great! the web site shows a casino and restaurants. the only place to eat there was a Johnny rockets. the a/c hardly worked and was every loud.water pressure was really weak.
Good value for money Noisy rooms
Friendly staff. Accomodated us with our request for early check in for free. There was a hair in the towel. Casino was closed for renovation.
* Very nice inside * Extremely clean * Smallest king room that I have ever stayed in (even among boutique hotels) * Hot tub was not working, despite being brand new - I came to Reno for Tough Mudder and that was one of my main reasons for staying there was to come back and soak in a nice new hot tub
Staff put us in a room that wreaked of smoke. Called front office 3 times to get a new room, no response. Angry, I called again to complain, Front Desk hung up on me because "I was raising my voice". Front Desk then called back, like they were doing me a favor, and with lots of attitude, and said they found a new room. A half hour later we had a new room that was smaller, without the two Queen beds we paid for, but didn't smell of smoke. One elevator had a key reader that didn't work, so we couldn't get to our room unless we used the other elevator. Before staying here, I would share a sidewalk with a homeless person and sleep on the ground.
I booked a room at this hotel for one night december 26th 2015 I showed up late at 5:00 pm due to bad traffic The staff told me the room was not ready with very rude attitude. I asked when would it be ready . The female staff returned with " i dont know " in a very rude way I was not happy with her reply. What did it mean by i dont know. I should be ready for us to check in at 3:00 pm. However, the thing i got frustrated was the attitude from the unfriendly female staff :). I got to my room eventually. There was no towels . What the heck? It took another hour for us to get towels. :). I asled for the rollaway bed twice. It never came. I would never return to this hotel again. Stay away from it. Or else it may ruin your vacation/holiday spirit
The hotel room was cleaner than the rest of the property. The hotel is in the process of becoming a No Smoking and No Gaming property. Which for me is a huge plus Hotel under renovation as it is converted to Renaissance. Had trouble finding hotel due to lack of signage. Air Conditioner unit is in room with no thermostat control Mattress was extremely uncomfortable Rooms were not well insulated for noise. Noise in the corridor all night long.
Bed was big enough. Bathroom was spacious. looks pretty on the outside & lobby. Self parking is huge. Affordable pricing. Pillow was too soft. Shower head was old, water pressure was too soft. There was no vent in the bathroom & couldn't lock the door. Not enough outlets to plug near nightstand & speaker dock was only for iPhone 4, needs to be upgraded. Casino was closed.
Stayed out late on New Year's Eve. Woke up the next morning and there were no pillowcases on the pillows that we were sleeping on in the bed. Also the inside of the shower was not cleaned the glass was not wipe down. Ran the thermostat on 80° and it never got hotter than 70° in the room it was cold. And very low water pressure in the shower, impossible for two people to take a shower at the same time.
The only redeeming factor in our stay there was the location. Of the two elevators, one was out of service (apparently for months) and the other one was extremely slow, taking 18 seconds to open on each floor. This lone elevator serviced 18 floors and gave me the impression of it might quit at any time. Additionally there was a sign on the stairs saying “For emergency fire use only.” Talk about having a trapped feeling. The Cal Neva's rooms show obvious neglect in maintenance; there were holes in the bathroom door, flooring coming up in the bathroom, faucets that barely functioned and a broken chair at the desk near the bed. In all it was not a good experience and I will never stay there again and do not recommend that anyone else stays there either. The Cal Neva should use some of their profits and maintain or better yet update their stinking hotel.
Sheets made me itch. Carpet was really dirty. Bathroom doesn't flush properly. TV needs upgrade. Smelled really bad. Light bulbs were disgusting and a couple weren't working. Elevator is outdated and feels like it's gonna break on you.
