Chinese customs is like a bowl full of retarted fish smelling their own farts. Six people doing nothing while one blithering idiot Stubles through paperwork."
Negativ: "The flight left before we get there. I had to book a train ticket to my final destination because I have to be in Fuzhou that day. I was told by the airline that I would be reimbursed the air fare from Xiamen to Fuzhou."
Positiv: "I liked playing tetris and pacman with a controller that was like that of a console. My flight had a lot of empty seats, and I noticed they staggered the seating so that there was nobody in front of me or behind me. Flight crew was genuinely nice and helpful even though we didn't speak the same language. The little cup holder was actually pretty cool. There even seemed to be ample leg room compared to other Chinese international flights I've been on. I've flown previously with china southern and China eastern, so that is my basis for comparison."
Negativ: "They didn't give me boarding passes for both flights (had a long layover in china). Other airlines printed both at the start of trip. This added quite a bit of confusion for me, seemingly unnecessarily. Also, I'm a bit disappointed in their free hotel room deal for long layovers. When I had a long layover previously with either china southern or china easter (can't remember which one), I got my own free hotel room, a free meal, and a free ride to and from the hotel. That was a real perk for my 12 hour layover. The deal with xiaman is you get a free hotel room, but you have to share it with a stranger of the same gender, and you have to pay for taxi to and from the hotel. Although you do supposedly get a free meal, I chose not to take them up on the hotel offer. Instead I took them up on their transfers lounge. This is a dark, quiet room full of dingy, dirty padded chairs and people sprawled out and snoring. I would have stayed more than 15 minutes if there were more phone charging plugs, but instead I went and ate mcdonalds and found a plug in at the kfc. Aside from all that, I would suggest getting some better Hollywood movies to choose from, as xiamen's competition has them beat there as well, in my opinion."

The signage in Xiamen (I was transiting from LAX to TPE) was amazingly poor and confusing. You basically stumble from 1 floor to another based on the signage. The airport was actually very large for what appears to be a medium size city."

Xiamen had a Business class section (small & unfortunately: untested by me). Economy was as expected but imagine getting a Bao (chicken) & packaged fruit, pastries, pickled cucumbers. Hey, beats a pack of peanuts. You could also get a white or red wine (didn't try them) - all for the price of admission. Take that UA, Delta, & AA! Why can't foreign carriers bring their game to the US routes and really give some competition!"

Requested an upgrade and was told the system was down then on return trip requested upgrade again and was told that it had to be done at check in which means returning to main terminal by tram and going through security again as the girl at the boarding desk returned to playing with her phone. There was more than 50% first class seats unfilled, good news for investors. On the tv monitor we were watching our final approach as we bypassed the airport and made three 360 degree turns 50 miles out for 30 minutes and not one word from the Captain what was happening, very nerve racking. Never fly Air China again!"

Negativ: "Old plane, gross stained faded fabric on seats, dust cover vents , dirty tray tables. good thing i brought my clorox wipes. Zero leg room, and of course I had tall people behind me so I was unable to recline my seat. The food was terrible the wine was worse.The food was mostly edible on the way there, but on the way back I barley ate anything. There was only one chicken and rice entree that had flavor. Apparently you can not have your phone on the entire flight, good thing i brought my IPAD for entertainment. The entertainment system was mediocre most of the movies were in different languages with english subtitles. I brought wine from duty free in Bangkok, but it was taken during connection by security in Beijing. Maximum volume that you can bring with you is 100ml. The options were to go out and have my wine checked in my carry-on or they will hold it for 30 days and I could come back and picked it up. What a scam, cause you can buy from the duty free in Beijing and bring it with you."

Negativ: "since this portion of my flight was cancelled by air china they tried to book me on the next day but my husband decided to come meet me in beijing after getting me a hotel and driver to pick me up the night that i was stranded. i told air china not to book me on the flight the following morning that i wasn't going to take it. they never did that and ended up cancelling the entire remaining flights on air china. this was the worst experience with an airline i've ever experienced."
