Negativ: Our son missed the outbound flight from Berlin, Germany, to St. Petersburg, Russia. The airline does not have any representation in Germany except in Frankfurt. He could not get hold of them by phone from Berlin, so we had to call from the United States. It turned out that we could not call S7 directly at all - instead we had to call Vyama. They told us that by missing the outbound flight, he also missed the inbound flight. Therefore, we had to buy a new ticket and pay whole price again for the flight two days later. This is not the practice that is used by other companies - which offer at least some credit.
Negativ: There was no S7 rep in Berlin Tegel airport and the agents in Frankfurt did not respond. So my son had to call us in the US to take care of the problem. We got hold of the agent through a US number, but no solution was offered other than simply buying a new ticket for a not so good price. I ended up getting no credit whatsoever and buying a new ticket on Finnair because the S7 offered a new ticket for two days later than the day on which they described event took place.

Negativ: Unfortunately we ended up waiting in the plane on the tarmac for 3 hours before taking off due to extreme rainfall. So everyone was antsy/uncomfortable before even taking off for the long flight.
Negativ: Xiamen reps at KUL didn’t let me board because they said my middle name on boarding pass didn’t match with the name on Chinese transit visa. I got this Chinese transit visa just to transfer because of the airport layout and that part was also didn’t make sense. They didn’t accept my middle “Y” on the boarding pass and it was so much of hassle to argue and finally let me through. Will never fly again on Xiamen.

Negativ: This was a discount garbage carrier. I have ridden on cargo boats off the coast of Nicaragua that I would recommend before Xiamen. They don’t give you your connecting boarding pass when you leave the country. You have to go through China’s bullshit customs service three times just to get to your next flight. Chinese customs is like a bowl full of retarted fish smelling their own farts. Six people doing nothing while one blithering idiot Stubles through paperwork.
Positiv: Flew business class. Cabin crew was some of the most attentive I have experienced. Food was very good and nicely presented. Pillows could be better, but had two. Same with blankets. One thick and puffy, the other lighter. Nice for temperature regulation.
Negativ: First leg lax - Tao delayed almost 3 hours. Fortunately the 2nd leg was delayed 1.5 hours. 3rd leg on this itinerary was also delayed, I could have made the flight, but they gave my seat away. It was a bit of a Charlie Foxtrot rearranging flights and overnighting Hotel. 2.5 hours. A supervisor was needed to sort it all out. We will see if the above was bad circumstances or not. I run the same itinerary in reverse on the way home in a week.

Negativ: Ich wurde aus unerfindlichen Gründen auf einen früheren Flug umgebucht. Dieser hatte soviel Verspätung das er später als mein ursprünglicher Flug startete. Leider habe ich dadurch meinen Anschlußflug in Peking verpasst und wurde erneut umgebucht und habe dann über einen Umweg nach Zürich mein entgültiges Ziel erreicht.

Positiv: Seats were super comfortable, bigger than most planes with extra leg room. Food was excellent and fresh, amazing Dutch cheese sampler was divine. No nonsense staff who had all connecting flight info on hand when we arrived in Abu Dhabi. KLM staff were friendly and efficient. Fabulous airline.

Positiv: The plane from Guangzhou to Beijing was newer and very well designed business class seats, the convenient layout was exceptional. I think the meal ok but the staff was exceptionally friendly helpful and took good care of me. Also this aircraft had a large movie assortment, larger than usual.
Negativ: I think the meals are the only area lacking, again not easy to have pre made meals that are as good reheated.
