Hotel Renascença

The staff was very nice in trying to solve problems. We felt they were working in difficult circumstances. The breakfast was very nice.

Check in was late as people were still leaving past the check in time and our room wasn't ready. The people were scattered all over reception, occupying every seat either with their persons or their purses while they sat elsewhere. The clientele were very rude. The room was on the ground floor close to reception. It was very noisy. There didn't appear to be any sound proofing. The "view" was below grade adjacent to a parking lot at the back of the building and we were disturbed by headlights in our window all night. It couldn't have been a worse room. This was very disappointing, considering that most rooms in the hotel had a view of a beautiful gorge across the street. There were people partying and dogs barking all day and all night throughout our entire stay. At one point the dogs were fighting in a room down the hall from us. The air conditioner didn't work and the staff did try to fix it. When they couldn't, we were given a portable fan. The blue light on the air conditioner flashed all night. The hotel is not within a safe and reasonable walking distance of downtown Gramado and there are no sidewalks.
