Staying in a very traditional ryokan in a beautiful town which doesn't receive too many foreign visitors. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful and made a huge effort to look after our needs. We were brought tea and cakes throughout the day and given a bountiful Japanese breakfast. They even prepared a more western breakfast on the second morning when they realised our teenage son might have struggled with the Japanese breakfast. The hotel also has its own onsen for men and women.
Sleeping was Japanese style which we expected but the futon was so much thinner than anywhere else - it was difficult to sleep! The ryokan did not offer dinner when we booked and it was difficult to find food. Despite having read that there were many small restaurants in town and them advising us to go to two or three, most of them were not open. It may indeed be quite seasonal. We ended up buying some of the most beautiful sashimi I have even eaten from the little food store in town! But meals were certainly tricky.
Amazing staff who really made our stay something that we will cherish forever!
The staff is super friendly. They used Google translate to communicate properly in English and it was working great. We are vegetarians so they prepared for us enormous vegetarian breakfast. They gave us maps, instructions and even showed us from where and what food to eat for the walks in the mountains. The rooms are like in a museum - traditional style, very clean abs authentic. We even got the kimono and teas in the room for free every day. The best place ever!
Very warm welcome, not everybody speaks english, but a mobile phone translator was always on hand. Very nice Location, worthy to stay a few days for walking and hiking. Liked very much the wooden board at the entrance with our name to welcome us. The parking is outside the village, but a super Transfer is given.
Amazing people really friendly and helpful , they made our stay unforgettable. Very large and clean room. Relaxing private onsen . Japanese Breakfast well made and tasty. Thanks for your kindness.
