Negativ: "I had a problem getting a boarding pass that was a carryforward from a problem that I had had on the flights from the USA to Frankfort 2 weeks earlier. On those flights, I was denied boarding on the flight from Amsterdam to Frankfort because of miscommunication between Delta and KLM. Apparently, the staff who dealt with that problem did not note that the issue had occurred, so it looked like there were "out-of-sequence" segments on my initial flight and I was not allowed to check in electronically. It took several calls to KLM and Delta in Frankfurt to try to resolve the problem and finally it was determined that it could only be resolved at the airport. Other than a very nice KLM representative, the other people I talked to seemed unwilling to engage in helping me and sent me along to someone else. Although the problem was ultimately fixed, this was not a great customer service experience."

As always the KLM crew took extra ordinary care of all of use. The service was wonderful and I scooted off the flight ahead of the girls to make my very short connection. The crew is what always make the experience delightful! Thank you again KLM."

It was only at the end of the flight when I was desperate for water that I discovered I could get some tap water from a flight attendant."

Negativ: "Selecting the entertainment choices was very very sluggish to the point where I just discontinued trying to find a show to watch. On both flights, going to Frankfurt and then returning from Frankfurt those international flights, the video or entertainment was very slow to select. I also noticed in some seats it wasn't working or people also just gave up. I did however like the fact that some shows we're closed captioned, that is really helpful because sometimes it is difficult to adjust the sound to to be able to clearly hear the conversations in the movie. Subtitles definitely help. I wish all of them had subtitles. The boarding is okay and I understand all the emeralds and rubies and platinum's Etc, but sometimes by the time group for get seated there's not always enough room in the overhead compartments because people tend to put all their bags their. And some people still take oversized bags that should probably be checked this is quite a nuisance."

We booked expecting to take the early connection if we could get thru customs early enough. We did, asked for boarding passes and were told it would cost $150.00 to take the earlier flight...so we sat for more than 3 hours waiting for our connection, after buying over $2,000 in airfare, traveling for 24 hours and seeing a partly empty plane leave Charlotte for Knoxville. We were the given the back two non reclining seats on the flight, even though we had booked weeks in advance...so no we felt very let down at the end of a difficult trip."

So I called American, they said they couldn't reserve the meal (even though the plane would be catered by their contracted food service-go figure THAT out!) and I should call the travel agent. Called the travel agent, who said I needed to call Iberia! Apparently no one could (or would) be responsible for my satisfaction. So the message here is: Beware the Code Share!"

No back of the seat entertainment screens. They had Aisle screens and ran occasional movies which kept stalling and the sound would cut in and out. An hour later it was the same message again. Why do you do this? Keeping your passengers in extreme heat without explanation is not only unacceptable, it's cruel. Flight attendants claimed to also not know what the situation was. They were kind and offered us water but couldn't clarify what was happening or how long we would be suffering. The "wifi" didn't work. There wasn't enough food, drink or snacks for everyone on the plane so those of us in the back got leftovers or fewer choices."

The other thing I didn’t appreciate is that we booked our flight with Lufthansa and flew with United. Extremely different quality and service between the two. I would fly Lufthansa any day, not the same sentiment with United."

Crew kept telling me to put my seat upright, I kept having to tell them the seat was broken. Old airplane with no in-seat entertainment. they advertise on the seat that you can watch all their entertainment content for free, but then you have to pay for wifi to watch so it's not free then, is it? Every movie or show requires "additional software" so you have to purchase internet to do the download. This is an 11 hour flight, I would have appreciated being able to watch a movie or something without forking out $30. Flight was delayed, so we were low on time to make our connection. I asked a flight attendant twice if we could get help deplaning early or at least get moved up some rows since we were in the very back of a 747 (there were plenty of vacant seats). They said no, and told us that customs would only take a minute and that the other united flight knew we'd be coming and would wait. I don't usually fly united; other airlines typically will actively take steps to help (like moving connecting passengers to the front shortly before landing) if they are the cause of the delay. Customs had only one agent working and we were pretty much last in line so that process took over an hour. Just moving us 10 rows forward before landing would have made all the difference because our connecting flight closed its doors and taxied for takeoff less than 5 minutes before we arrived. They had some united employees guiding and directing a couple of passengers that were going to be late for a connection to LAX, but no help for those of us connecting to portland. Customer service didn't even offer a verbal apology. Last time I flew with united, I also had a terrible experience for different reasons. I did not intend to fly united for this flight, but I purchased tickets through and for Lufthansa, and this flight was regrettably operated by united. Another thing I don't like - the food was horrendous. It was a breakfast sandwich that was advertised as "hot and fresh" on the packaging but was served straight from the refrigerator. I was in the middle seats with one person to my left and two people to my right. Everyone took only one bite and threw away the rest. Just don't bother serving the food if it's going to be that bad, it's very wasteful. I always appreciate a hot towelette after a long overnight flight. United offered no such thing which was a first for me. Regarding boarding: they called us all up to line up in boarding groups and then we had to stand in line for 65 minutes. I have a bad back and had to sit on the carpet to avoid being last in line and not having space for my carry on bag. Would have been nicer if they would have just let us sit in the chairs at the gate in comfort until they were ready to board."
Positiv: "The flight was not full, so we had extra space."
Negativ: "First, UA flight attendant forgot to serve us (and few more sitting on the same area) lunch. By the time we asked why we are not served, we didn't have a choice, but to take whatever left. Second, we had about only 1 - 1 1/2 hours of in-flight entertainment available in Economy class out of 10 1/2 hour flight. Of course, entertainment was available for first, business and premier class. Why? Satellite problem supposedly. Third, ok. There was a entertainment on a big screen in the front. However, system on the armrest was not working. What's the point? My husband and I have been in long distance flight over 25 year with various airline companies, BUT THIS UNITED FLIGHT WAS ONE OF THE WORST FLIGHT EVER. When I booked this vacation, I chose Lufthansa on purpose as I know their quality of service and professionalism. I didn't notice that the return flight was a code share with UA. Only thing they can say was that they can provide us more mileage as a compensation if we write to UA on their website... We had a great vacation until were on this flight."
Negativ: "Der Flug wurde um 6-7 Stunden verschoben, so dass ich keinen Anschluss Flug mehr hatte um nach Hause zu kommen. Der Service vor Ort war sehr schlecht, es hatte viel zu wenig Personal. Ich hatte einen freundlichen Helfer am Schalter, aber sein Supervisor hat mich dann ohne zu Fragen einfach irgendwie umgebucht, z.B. ein Tag später, dann mit Übernachtung irgendwo. Die Flüge am selben Tag wurden zuerst gar nicht berücksichtigt, bis ich dann online selber gesucht habe. Schlussendlich hat mir ein Mitarbeiter der Lufthansa geholfen noch einen Flug am gleichen tag zu bekommen. Mein Gepäck ist bis jetzt 48h später noch nicht aufgetaucht. Gesamthaft für United ein sehr schlechter Service!!!"
Negativ: "Entertainment System war defekt und es gab keine Entschädigung."
Positiv: "Flight UA 945 got me home!"
Negativ: "Everything. This was a UA plane and LH ticket. We had to check in with LH in a completely different concourse than we departed. The plane was very aged, the carpets and seats were soiled and the bathrooms were in a terrible state of repair and floors filthy. I think this plane is more fitting for the grave yard than the skies. It was completely overcrowded with seats. Although I am only 6 ft tall, my knees touched the seat in front on me. Entertainment was disfunctional to a state of unusable. The small analog screens were streaked and blurry and selection terrible. Audio jacks were worn so bad you could maintain contact one ear but at the time. Food was awful and very sparse and served by very Grouchy crew members. Breakfast and a snack were inedible. No real meal was served. Never again on UA. I recommend LH consider divorcing themselves from UA."
Positiv: "Flight crew were extremely courteous, helpful and gracious. I wish the ground crew were half as good as the flight crew."
Negativ: "The boarding experience was very. The boarding lady was, in my opinion, racist. First I requested to have seats reassigned if possible, since I was traveling with my brother and we bought the same ticket but were assigned different seats. The lady was extremely rude. The flight was 2/3 full so this shouldn't have been an issue. On they Chicago to Nairobi flight we asked the same question and the lady was extremely helpful and pleasant. Secondly, I bought a bottle of Whisky from Nairobi airport. Frankfurt airport refused to allow me to continue with it. They insisted on having it checked it, which can only happen outside the airport. I gave it my brother to check in, but he was delayed. While people were boarding I told staff that I would wait and see if he could make it aboard. Suddenly the lady said that he is 'high risk' because he left the secure part of the airport and he will not be on the flight and off too because I said I was waiting. The other 2 check - in personnel stepped in and were helpful. The gave me a couple of minutes to decide if I wanted to board the plane because the would have to pull my bags off the plane if I decided not to board. This one racist lady ruined the entire boarding experience. I wish I had taken note of her name. I doubt that I will transit through Frankfurt or use Lufthansa by choice ever again."

Negativ: "The food, mail meal was icky. Wishing the entertainment was simple, with access right there on board without having to download, have a computer ect..."
Positiv: "Die Sitze sind ausreichend gross, am Platz gibt es Kissen, Decke und Kopfhörer. Das Essen schmeckt und die Crew ist freundlich. Auf dem Langstreckenflug gab es aktuelle Filme noch Wochen vor DVD Start."

I though I booked a flight with Lufthansa, but tunrs out this was partnered with United. Terrible experience. Don't think I would fly United again even if you paid me."
Positiv: "We had an empty seat between us which made the trip much more comfortable. The dinner service was pretty tasty actually. Flight attendants were friendly."
Negativ: "Forcing people to use their own electronic devices rather than having in-seat entertainment is obnoxious. Insert typical complaint about tiny spaces on airplanes. The pre-landing snack sandwich was pretty nasty."
Positiv: "Crew was efficient and friendly, food was actually some of the best I remember on a long flight. Almost no turbulence helped comfort level!"
Negativ: "The boarding process up and down flights of stairs and then being taken on a hot bus to the plane was unpleasant and not easy for many of the older travelers."
Negativ: "I cannot believe United Airlines flies an 11-hour international flight and does not provide each seat with an individual television for entertainment. I fly quite frequently and EVERY other international flight has individual televisions. It made the experience long and horrible. I am a minimalist and travel with as few items as possible. So even though United offered me the ability to use my own device, I don't have one! Also, the instructions to download the app before take off was not clear. During the entire flight, I kept getting the message "no internet connection; unable to connect to satellite." So I couldn't even use my phone. Very annoying and I will never fly United for international flights again."
Positiv: "Roomy seat area, lots of entertainment options, crew was pretty good - one flight attendance a little sassy - but not sure if it was supposed to be funny. I thought it was - so I put it as a positive and she got it done and kept offering water."
Negativ: "Boarding was the main issue. There was some kind of extra security feature where they wanted to check our boarding passes - which is fine! however, the way the boarding crew handled those operations was embarrassing. Basically no organization of the lines, and when it was time to board, they could not handle the organization of people that had already been checked security wise (and ready to board) - and people that weren't security checked. For instance, I had my boarding pass ready (had already been security checked) and was ready to board. But there was no indication as to which line to get into, so when I asked, I was demeaned - and told to go to "zone 3! You are boarding group 3!" There was no way to know where this was, and just before (when I was getting security checked on my boarding pass) the woman told me to "just stay in the line that I was in - because boarding would take place soon". There was no way to know which lines were zone 1, 2, 3, or still checking boarding passes for security reasons. Once my zone 3 line reached the point to get scanned to board, eventually people had also been in the wrong line and were ready to board, so 4 lines of people who were just as confused as I was, started to merge. This is going slowly of course, people in zone 1 (who thought they were in the zone 1 line but instead were still stuck in the boarding pass security line) were upset because zone 3 was boarding and they weren't - and this is while the staff is getting angry at people NOT boarding - because they are stuck in these other lines. It was quite disorganized and I think the staff could have handled the entire process better. Not sure if I ordered the wrong option but food could have used an upgrade."
Negativ: "There were 2 ladies speaking Romanian. Being native Romanian speaker, I understood them and the way they talked to each other did not seem professional. Also I heard someone from the crew asking rude questions to some guy such as "- Do you have a gun in your bag right now?" (Heck, that guy was in transit, and he already passed 1 or more security check points before getting to that gate. And even if he has a gun, he would say NO, and your job is not to trust his words, but to check his bag instead...)."
Positiv: "The crew were very pleasant & that was the only saving grace of the journey."
Negativ: "Never been in a flight which has been so cramped in terms of space. United needs to upgrade their flights & stop using antiquated airlines. The turbulence for most of the duration of the flight was horrible, while I understand turbulence is beyond the airlines control, I am quite positive a newer airline would have ensured the effect is a lot lower (e.g. A380). The sky was very clear landing into Newark but I the entire journey to touchdown was so turbulent that I almost wanted to throw up, I don't understand the science of flying but I haven't seen an airline wobble so much on a clear day for landing. Overall, I definitely believe United needs to upgrade their airline & until such time, I am going to find a different carrier to fly."
Positiv: "Entertainment system from the 90s, and it didn't even work. Food terrible and surly cabin crew. Was so excited to fly with Lufthansa and so very disappointed to get United instead."

Negativ: "- Personal entertainment on United is false advertising -- unacceptable for a 10+ hour international flight. Namely, even if one happens to carry an appropriate personal device, the system was near impossible to connect to (none in our row were able to connect with a variety of smartphone, tablet, and laptop devices until most of the plane went to sleep. When we did connect, the streaming was so choppy it was nearly unwatchable. Then if you didn't run out of battery (plugs were not reachable under other passengers), the wifi went down completely for the rest of the flight). - Boarding was confusing (need to get a TSA sticker wasn't clearly communicated, nor when or how to get one). - Most flight attendants were rude to most passengers (not a personal experience, just an observation). - Economy seats felt half the size of those on the Lufthansa operated inbound flight"

Negativ: "FRA- SFA was possibly the worst food I've had so far; (SFA - FRA by contrast had been really good) entertainment: movies kept pausing/getting 'stuck', such that one would miss, sometimes crucial, dialog in the film - very annoying! while collecting trash or offering snacks crew walked the aisle rather fast, and, more importantly, back to front (so that one couldn't see them coming), with the result that I had to either shout after them (while other passengers were sleeping) or get up and run after them..."
Negativ: "Effizienz beginnt beim Check-in/Baggage drop off: Check-in nur per Automat. Man muss selber den Gepäcktag ausdrucken und am Gepäck befestigen. Veraltete Sitze die zwar breit aber unbequem sind. Völlig veraltetes Entertainment System, mit gerade einmal acht Filmen, keine Pausefunktion, keine Möglichkeit zurückzuspulen, Bildschirm ist schlanke 12 Zoll groß. Bordtoilette war alt und schlecht gepflegt."
Positiv: "Once we got on board the flight attendant was very nice and accommodating. The flight itself was fine."
Negativ: "We had to wait 4 hours to board our flight. The plane was late, then they had to replace the whole navigation system. Then at the last minute told us to go to another gate and when we got there we were told to go back to the original gate. Getting another plane from the get go would have eliminated a lot of the hassle we all experienced."

Negativ: "Boarding process was somewhat chaotic and despite airline's effort to optimize the process it still took more time than it should have. Entertainment on board was nonexistent, the suggested "United app" for viewing movies and shows couldn't be downloaded from inside the onboard wifi. Internet access costed $16, which is a little too much. All I was left with is the flight info (plane altitude changes may be entertaining, but not always). The WORST part was the arrival. My checked bag was badly damaged (essentially ripped along the zipper) and the items inside were scattered along the baggage line. Fortunately, not many of stuff was lost, but the emotional experience was extremely negative. I got an exchange for the bag and filed a claim for lost items, but no one could explain what had happened to my bag."
Negativ: "My seat was occupied when I got to it, and the lady wouldn't move. I didn't know why at first, but trying to be nice, took her seat a few rows back. It immediately became clear to me when the man next to me (I was at the window, he was in the middle) began slurring and talking to me and our seat mate (who was a very nice man). The man in the middle kept rubbing my arms and trying to get his arms around me. That is, when he wasn't passed out. When he was awake he would drink more and continue with this behavior. The main on the aisle tried to ask a flight attendant to have me moved because of the other man's behavior, but she would not. I don't know why. (I am sure the flight must have been full or something, but couldn't they have perhaps traded my seat with a man?) This was extremely disconcerting, and disappointing."
Positiv: "While the seats weren't anything fancy, it was more than adequate for a short flight. My favorite part, though, was the half sandwich given out for free along with the drink service. It's such a small gesture, but particularly after my hellish 10 hour United flight from SFO to FRA, it was such a nice touch."
Negativ: "Seats were a little old/my seat was ripped, boarding was kind of disorganized."
Positiv: "I got updates to my Apple Watch in regards to delays and ultimately my flight being cancelled."
Negativ: "Had a very hard time trying to re-book a different flight to get to where I was going. The best I could get was a day and a half later so I ended up not going. I missed my best friends wedding."

Dabei sind die Preise für die Flüge nun nicht ungewöhnlich günstig, als dass das die ganzen zahlungspflichtigen Services rechtfertien würde..."
