The ambiance! Tropical/lush greenery and colors. Beautiful pool. Excellent food. We were at the hotel just one night before a trip to the Panama Canal. Wish we could have stayed several days.

beautiful building and grounds actual room was a bit shabby, dirty. no fridge, tv didnt work, ac wouldnt turn off, even alarm clock didnt work, strange knocking sound coming from bathroom, and very loud in hall.
Carolina at the front desk was wonderful. Patient, helpful and pleasant. When we arrived our Kayak booking had not been arranged by Kayak. It took almost an hour on the phone to get things straightened out.
Clean and staff was very friendly. They charge for internet in the room but not by the pool. I think in the level of a hotel internet should be included in the room. Also should include at least a bottle of water or two in the room at no extra charge. They also need more staff at the breakfast buffet on the weekend, long line for the eggs and had to ask to have potato and bacon refilled.
Beautiful hotel with some real charm. Staff was first class. Gift shop and cafe are open 24hrs which is a great touch to grab a hot meal anytime. Views are wonderful. Restaurants were too expensive for the area. Since there is nothing within walking distance, and traffic is so bad in the afternoon, they have a captive audience - feels like they're taking advantage of it.
The hotel and amenities itself were great and so was most of the staff. We really enjoyed the pool, Antigua restaurant, views, driving range, fitness center and proximity to the airport. Though the majority of the staff were great, there were three incidents during our 5 night stay that really disappointed us. Two were in the executive lounge. I won't bore you with the gentleman who lied to us on Friday evening about the actual prices of the wine on their menu. Nice guy and I actually gave him a $10.00 cash tip and he turned around and charged us double than what he told us he would. On Sunday March, 29th, 2015 we showed up at the executive lounge around 5:20 (It supposedly opened for drinks and light food at 5:00). The young lady working in the lounge hadn't put any of the food out yet. No problem, we weren't there for the food, we wanted a glass of wine and perhaps a few crackers and cheese. She told us we would have to wait for a drink until she put all the food out. Again, no problem. There was another family in the lounge and no one else was in the joint. She served them drinks after we arrived and asked for drinks but was told we had to wait. Okay, still no problem, perhaps they arrived at 5:00 and she thought they had waited too long and wanted to make it up to them. We sat there for 20-25 minutes while this lady and one helper slowly put the food out. During this time, several people arrived and were waiting for service as well. I assumed that when she was ready to start serving drinks, she would take ours first as we had been there the longest without being served. Nope, she started serving tables that just arrived while we were going on sitting in this small lounge for a half hour by now. I had to say something at this point and she just said, "I have many things on my mind". You would think at this point that she would come over to our table, apologize for the lengthy wait and take our order. Nope, she disappeared in the back room and 5 minutes later sends her helper to take our order. We ordered the large glasses of wine and he brought us over the small glasses (considerable price difference between the two) and then proceeds to charge us for the large ones. At this time I asked to speak with the hotel manager. Long story short, he came up, apologized and said the drinks were on him. Classy move by management but this young lady never once came over and apologized for her defensive, incompetent and lousy service. We actually stayed there for a while and she never once came over to our table. I would have fired this sniveling inept employee on the spot.... Later, we put our son on one of the hotel vans that compete with the local cab service out front to go back to the college he's currently attending in San Jose. I told the guy at the front desk to add the charge to our room which he gladly did. I saw him asking the van driver who works for the Marriott for an invoice and handed it to me. The charge was $35.00 and I knew that was accurate because that's the same amount we were charged when we took the same ride 2 days earlier. I found out last night that the driver charged my son on arrival the full fare again.
The staff was very helpful and extremely courteous. The layout and decor was top notch and the amenities are amazing. I can't say enough about this place. I'm definitely coming back.
Free airport shuttle 24/7
Upon traveling by bus all day to San Jose for my flight out the next morning, I get to the airport to call for my hotel shuttle... and am told there are no rooms for me, the hotel was overbooked. It's 8pm and I'm tired and hungry - the receptionist tells me to come to the hotel through their shuttle and they'll help me find another room. After waiting longer than she said it would take, the shuttle finally arrives and takes me to La Riviera. The lady at the front desk is nice and tells me that they've gotten me a room at comparable hotel right behind theirs. By the time I am finally shuttled over there and checked into my room it is nearly 10pm - too late for me to mess with any other arrangements for a room upon discovering that the room is NOT comparable in any way!! La Riviera looked nice with AC, flatscreen TV, a pool, free breakfast, style... my 'comparable' room, which was two dollars more even, was a hole-in-the-wall hotel down pretty much an alley. The room was a mess with multiple beds (one a bunk bed), AC or TV didn't work - it was a local family room - and no offense to that, but it was a room I'd NEVER pay $70 in Costa Rica for! I signed up to pay that amount for a nice, classy looking room in a hotel with gardens and ambiance! I felt taken advantage of and ripped off, and upon expressing this to the lady at the new hotel was met with nothing but the offer to find another room. Really?! It was too late and I was exhausted!! I wish either Kayak or La Riviera wouldn't have overbooked their rooms OR the lady would have been honest about the 'comparable' room so I could have found another at the airport before being shuttled to their nook in the huge city and essentially locked in at a late hour. This hotel looked super nice, it's a shame! I would never stay here though because of this experience.
Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit und die Zimmer waren sauber. mir war das Frühstück im Preis enthalten und war recht schön. Alles in allem gut! Google Maps führte mich zu der Rückseite des Hotels und die Gegend hinter dem Hotel ist ein wenig befremdlich in der Nacht. Das Hotel hat ein Wachmann und ein Zaun und es ist sicher
Ich mochte den Stil und das Fitnessstudio im Raddisson. Mein Zimmer roch nach nassem Hund als wir ankamen.
Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und sind auf jeden Fall sehr gut ausgebildet Nicht das, was man erwarten würde. Alt, alt, nicht sehr gepflegt. Flecken in der Dusche, Schlafzimmer Teppiche. Gärten sind nicht ordentlich
Die Angestellten sind immer freundlich und kennen Ihren Namen. Einrichtungen immer sauber und gut organisiert. kostenloses Frühstück sehr gut und sehr schmackhaft. Ich bin immer sehr zufrieden mit ihren Betten und die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig. Die Bäder sind immer sauber und gut ausgestattet.
Ich war sehr zufrieden mit unserem Aufenthalt im Radisson. Tolle Lage nur wenige Gehminuten von Downtown Central Market, Nationaltheater, etc. Die Zimmer waren sauber und komfortabel und das Frühstück war großartig. Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend bei allen Fragen / Wünsche. Würde auf jeden Fall wieder hier übernachten. Bar/Restaurant auf dem Gelände war etwas teuer.

The hotel said that the first three floors had no water service and all floors above were booked. However, we went to the fitness center on the main floor and the showers were working fine. The kitchen on the main floor also had a water supply. We found out later that the water line was a lie. The hotel used that as an excuse to send us to another hotel because they had overbooked. The hotel they sent us to had a cheaper rate than Barcelo. The hotel that Barcelo sent us to said that Barcelo over books all the time, lies to their patrons all the time, and sends them to the hotel we were sent to and forces the other hotel to deal with or try to make up for Barcelo's mistakes and poor customer service. Also, one of the reasons we booked this hotel was because of the free airport shuttle service. The shuttle never showed up at the airport. We were told there would be a shuttle at 6:30, at 6:45, we called the hotel and it turns out they never sent a shuttle. We ended up having to get a cab and we were not reimbursed for the taxi ride. For the ride back to the airport, I just booked a taxi because I did not trust the Barcelo shuttle to pick me up in time from the hotel they sent me to. Did not like anything about this hotel.
Prices for the food... It was over priced.
Nice with free shuttle to airport, comfortable beds and spacious rooms. There were some ants in the bathroom and overall could use more in depth cleaning.

The buffet breakfast was great, variety and quantity. Enjoy that! The bed was very comfortable, did a lot of sleeping. The shuttle to the airport was free but it goes on the hour and you need to schedule your spots ahead of time. Not a good place to walk anywhere. We wanted food but the restaurant at the hotel opened at 6:30pm. Better expect to catch a taxi or dodge traffic across the highway to go out. Also the restaurant was expensive for the portions, if you want your value, get the dessert bar for 6$. They will charge you for that bottled water they pour you. Wifi was cutting out a lot. They hotel had seen better days, lacking on the details of maintenance. I was happy for a minibar but was told it was 10$ just to unlock it so don't expect to have a fridge in the room. There was an ice bucket though.
The staff was wonderful and made me feel right at home. Check in and check out was very quick and efficient!! I also really enjoyed my dinner at the pool bar restaurant!! My room was very clean and comfortable as well and the hot water was AMAZING for my bath!! There was nothing I didn't like!!
Close to where I work Old carpets that smell really bad. Swimming pool not accessible after 5pm or before 9am (Could bot use them since I am on a business trip) Old elevators with weird and scary sounds

Breakfast buffet was superior and the lobby, garden and the pool were beautiful. The staff were very helpful and kind. You have to take a taxi everywhere, and the cabs that are available at the hotel charge a premium to get you to your next location. It was $12 for a cab ride to Centro downtown and $6 for the cab ride back.
Staff are highly friendly and bilingual. Some of them at least. It's right off the freeway and a good price for what you get. Gym was hardly there at all. Fitness is important to me.I can improvise thanks to my training but I might as well have done bodyweight workouts. They didn't have someone at the front gate to let me in so I stood there for a while before crawling under the gate to open it myself.
It was a good hotel for our stay in Costa Rica, but because of the location you can't walk to anything, you need a cab to go anywhere. The food at the restaurant, especially dinner, was expensive and not that impressive.
From the moment we walked in the staff were friendly, helpful, and throughout our stay they were always ready to assist, whether providing an extra towel or arranging transportation. Things you might expect, but with a far better attitude than you tend to find in the USA. The entire hotel was very clean at all times, which is important to me. Toilets allow you to flush paper, unlike many local establishments. Food was consistently fresh and tasted excellent. No genuine complaints. Trying to think what I'd have preferred to be different, the hallways and bathroom were less brightly lit than I'd like, but not bad. The hotel is very much a European style and not intended to look local in any way. My teens were the youngest people I saw there, and it's not set up for young kids. Location is great if you plan to spend time in San Jose but not terribly convenient to tourist attractions...which is true of any hotel in San Jose.

Loved my rolm because it was very spacious, bed was comfortable, everything was clean except for the trash in the trashcan when I arrived in the room. TV was great with different languages including Mandarin.. Beautiful vien from my room overlooking the city. Staff was excellent, especially at the front desk. They are bilingual and very informative. Overall, I liked the hotel but I did not like the pool area. There were always meetings being held in that area constantly so I didnt have a chance to swim. The pool was small regardless. I did not like the restaurant or the service very well. I would sit down and 20 minutes would pass by without a waiter approaching me and I would sit where they could clearly see me. I then have to flag them down to put my order in. The food was okay and pricey. You could do better at McDonald's in taste and price. The free breakfast there was very nice. Good assortment of fruit, cereal, yogurt, meat, bread, egss, juice, and milk. Location around the area is not the safest. As a foreigner, I do not recommend others to walk alone. Use a taxi.
Nice hotel with a boutique feel. Hot complimentary breakfast, clean, spacious, and updated rooms. Get 100 channels on television, some of which are HBO and English speaking stations and local South Florida news. Beautiful view of the mountains and city of San Jose. Great location. Only a few blocks from city center. Staff friendly and English speaking. Very helpful with reserving airport transfers at a affordable price. Friendly staff. Would recommend. No complaints.
Practical, functional, lively young environment, good breakfast and friendly staff. AC compresors on roof above the 7th floor are not mechanically isolated. First night was like sleeping (not) with the compresor in the room. Staff acted surprised when I asked to be moved. Really? NO SLEEP ON THE 7th!
I liked that there was a bar on site and a pool table. The bathroom was spacious. The night we stayed there, a DJ was playing loud music in the reception area. I couldn't really hear the woman who was checking us in at the front desk.
It's modern and with a good location. It feels knew and you'll enjoy the buffet in the mornings. It's definetly for young couples or business travelers Parking is very small if you want to be close to the hotel (only about 8 cars). If there are more than that you'll end up parking at another far away parking they share with other buildings. There isn't a swimming pool
This hotel had it all. I had a long layover and stayed here. It was the perfect place to relax with fabulous ammenities. No complaints! I wouldn't have changed a thing!
When we arrived at Aloft, the lobby was packed with people. There was some kind of party going on. The staff told me I they didn't actually have a room for me, despite my reservation. Instead they told us we had to stay at the Hotel Indigo down the street. Indigo was fine, but they charged us more for the room, and it was not the room configuration we reserved at Aloft.
Very different experience as a hotel , sort of a club in a constant happy hour. No shuttle to the airport and loud music playing all the time at the lobby .
I was very happily surprised by service: at frontdesk, at restaurants, event organization overall... everyone willing to help, and very friendly. A couple of highlights: the sushi restaurant is very good quality and reasonable prices...the beds are very comfortable...\nThe hotel is also strategically located close to all hotspots in town, the Escazu and Santa Ana areas...I highly recommend it!\n
This is a great hotel with a beautiful lobby, very comfortable guest rooms and a good selection of restaurants. The staff was very quick to respond. My only complaint is that it could be anywhere in the world; it doesn't have any local Costa Rican flavor.
I was amazed last week during the inauguration of the new Club Tower at the InterContinental Costa Rica. The rooms are beautiful and luxurious and the spa is just wonderful. The new gym is unique. You will not find something similar in Costa Rica. I am looking forward for my next trip to stay in one of the new rooms. Congratulations!!!
My son gave his Mother and I a trip to Costa Rica for our 50th anniversary present. We started out at the Real Intercontinental. As a former Pan Am employee, who frequented the Intercontinental Hotels (then owned and operated by Pan Am), I can say with certainty.......the Real has maintained the class and luxury that I.H. was always known for. The maintenance is excellent; the sevice impeccable; and the acommodations luxurious. Not to mention excellent cuisine in the restuarants. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. This is a beautiful hotel with an extremly relaxing and luxurious pool setting. We used all the amenities including the gym, pools, spa and restaurants. The waiters, waitresses and spa employees were the nicest I think I've ever encountered at a hotel. Their professional and friendly service continued all week long! Which is why we were extremly shocked to witness the unprofessional and unaccomodating managment staff. We had to wait 2 hours for our room to be ready even though they gave us a specific check in time. Then for the 11:30am scheduled checkout they called us at 6:00am becuase they could not run our credit card on the restaurant tabs (we prepaid for the hotel). That was frustrating being woken up on our last day of vacation when we had a long day of travel ahead of us. Lastly, my husband stepped out of a restaurant to speak to a manager because the table next to us had a child that was standing next to us scream singing and pounding thier feet dancing along with the father. I...
We stayed overnight after flying in late and left after lunch the next day. This place is not that close to the airport and the most direct way there involves some winding around back roads. So you either will get charged by the taxi to go all the way into San Jose and back out on the highway or you see some local scenery that will make you worry the driver is trying to rip you off. Price is reasonable by US standards but a little high compared to other options in the area. Figure in the price of the taxi and relative distance from airport and downtown. It is located next to a big mall and business area, but that was not why we were visiting CR. The room was fine. Comfortable and all the usual amenities of a nicer hotel. Unfortunately, smoking is allowed in the open lobby, so smoke permeates to the upper floors. Water is generally safe to drink in CR, but just to remind you, there is a little sign in the bathroom that tells you they filter the water. No need to pay for the bottled wa...
I have enjoyed staying there for the last 3 years and will continue staying there I enjoy the Casino and the staff there I don't have anything to say that I didn't enjoy
We've stayed here before and things were better then. This time we reserved a crib ahead of time, and when we arrived we were told that the crib is on its way. 30 minutes passed and still no crib and no word from anyone. I called reception again and they said that the crib was not coming anymore since they didn't have one for us anymore. They didn't offer any solutions, just said no crib. I asked if there is a small bed they could wheel into our room and finally they agreed. Also there were a few blood stains on our bedsheets. Gross. I told all of this to reception when we checked out but they showed no concern.
The hotel staff was excellent with communication and accommodating my needs. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and well stocked with necessary items. The hotel is a bit secluded and not within walking distance of anywhere, really.
The Sheratons transportation service is highly over priced use local cabs . They charge almost double the normal rate for shuttle service The shuttle service is highly over priced and they don't know where they are going
Meine Schwester und ich waren für eine Nacht im Hotel Aranjuez. Der Service war unglaublich und das Zimmer war sauber und komfortabel. Wir waren nervös, weil wir nichts gutes über San Jose gehört hatten, aber wir fühlten uns sicher und willkommen, sobald wir im Hotel ankamen. Die Angestellten an der Rezeption gaben uns tolle Empfehlungen für Restaurants und Aktivitäten, und das Hotel ist in der Nähe zahlreicher Sehenswürdigkeiten. Ich würde definitiv empfehlen, hier zu übernachten!
