quaint little motel with friendly staff, lots of charm
The rooms were clean and the Casa Ojai Inn permitted pets.
Consistently good, with little touches that show that staff and owners care about property and the environment. Very quiet and comfortable. Walk to shops and hiking. I stay here every time I'm in Ojai. Need bedside outlets to plug in phone and other accessories.
Nice upgrade to room interior. Pool and jacuzi were great! Best best best value for better than average room. Nice touch with free breakfast!!
Staff, grounds, pool, hot tub. Well, the furnishings weren't my taste but that's just me. I usually like a more modern hotel.
We had a large group of friends. Everyone felt the hotel was na great deal. To begin with the staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was a nice perk.
the staff was friendly and helpful; the room was good sized and clean with mostly good accomodations. There was a closet area without a clothes hanger rod and there were no towel bars by the sink or shower. Very inconvenient.
I was unable to go to Casa Ojai Inn because my childcare fell through. When I tried to cancel Kayak wouldn't let me even though I'm sure the inn would have been able to book the room 36 hours in advance on a popular summer weekend. I will not be using Kayak to book anymore.
* It was clean * Staff was friendly * Bed was comfortable * Paid extra for a private "patio" which turns out to be a table and chairs outside the front door adjacent to parking lot (don't recommend you choose this upsell). * Faux-wood floors (I prefer carpet) * Tiny bathroom - only sink is in main room * Wall-mounted shampoo and soap dispensers (soap dispenser was empty for my shower) * Have to go to pool to get to ice machine
The hotel was very nice. We had paid in advance (November) for a date in May. In March we received a phone call from Kayak or their 3rd party telling us we would have to move to a hotel in Ventura since they had over booked the hotel. We were very upset since we had made reservations very early. We were told by that 3rd party that if we didn't move then we could cancel. After several phone calls and emails we were finally able to stay. The good thing was that the hotel had us in their system as the reservation they had and they told us that they were not changing it unless we told them we were. When we arrived at the hotel, our check in took about a 1/2 hour because the credit card the third party gave to the hotel was not working. It was sorted out but was incenvenient.
Clean, good-sized room, great bed, and friendly staff. 2 minutes from the middle of Ojai by car. Low-flow shower, but understandable in these parts.
We stayed overnight on our way down to LA airport so consequently required a restful stop. Casa Ojai Inn is very comfortable, the swimming pool is an added bonus. The self service breakfast good and the staff very pleasant - we would definitely use it again. Ojai is a really interesting place- great seafood restaurant & a brilliant second hand bookshop & a real Literary centre.
Loved it! Was a great location to the main street where all the cute shops and restaurants are located. The suite was lovely, big, comfy king size bed. Fireplace in the livingroom, except it was 105 degrees while we were there. We'll be back!

The innkeeper was warm, welcoming, accommodating and very sweet with our toddler daughter. Room was clean and the room amenities were generous (e.g., bath products, snacks). Quiet and peaceful. Perfect walking distance to farmer's market and restos. late night street noise on ground floor but manageable with noise canation phone app.
Great room size, decor, location and quiet.
A pool would be a great addition
The front desk girl Nicole made you feel at home and was very kind and welcoming.
Great location to uptown Ventura and the beach. Restaurants are within walking distance. Very noisy so don't plan to get a good night sleep
Good downtown location Advertised wine and cheese served which was not the case, no internet available in rooms, rooms could use updating.
Great location right in heart of downtown old town Clubs Restaurants night life walking distance Cool park adjacent to hotel local transients hanging out but harmless Close to beach and fwy Place has been great in the past lots of nice plants around patio and autrium Breakfast used to be good real eggs bacon sausage Now cheap as could be Super continental generic pastries if management could make cheaper I'm sure they would Went in morning to get coffee dispenser was out informed the clerk They copped a little attitude with me pulling them away from playing on fb I'm gruppy in the morning before my coffee just pissed me off I returned to my room to use the coffe machine there Place is a great price for what it is But don't expect anything to be completly right I'm not one to rate things very often take much to please But if u include breakfast and know it's sucks least have some fuking hot coffee for your guest in the morning I love Ventura This place has eroded management orsomething has dramatically changed for the bad here I hope the owner pulls his or her head out of there ass fixes it Place has lots of character history and charm to the city of Ventura to just throw this very neat partially converted old firehouse down the drain I hope I see better reviews in the future Save the clock tower lol Staff extremely poorly trained Bad moral Obvious owner manager has changed from the past I speak from the heart if you don't like my grammar or punctuation Too bad Is what it is Love America buy American
Great and helpful staff. Within walking distance to downtown and beach front, literally a block away. Wonderful location. Definately coming back. Some homeless around the area but they're really peaceful and keep to themselves. Nothing to worry about :)
Location, friendly staff, clean room, amenities, very quiet. No parking due to an event next door we were unaware of. Given parking pass for adjacent lots but were refused entrance.
They showed us to a adorable king size bedroom with a fireplace running! It was quaint! But we needed two queens. We got a very large room with lots of Windows! Breakfast had no juice. Hardly any food left. A little worn out. No mattress on the hideabed. No keys so we had to be taken to our room. Desk clerk was awesome though.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The shower in my room was broken, and the staff changed my room easily. The location was perfect! All of the downtown nightlife is walkable from the Clocktower, including a top notch whiskey bar across the courtyard. Value of accommodation for the price is exceptional. Free breakfast buffet was a joke. Paid extra for a "nicer" room with a balcony, was originally booked into a room on the first floor. Patio is different from balcony. My first room had plumbing issues with the shower. The type of issue that the last guest probably complained about. Since it was not fixed before this room was sold again, I was given a poor impression of this hotel's standard of service.
Was close to main street, freeway access. 1. Small round toilet seat installed on large elongated oval toilet was strange. 2. Water damage in bathroom between tub & wall with black mold was gross. 3. The only chair in room was a hard wood dining room type chair. 4. With reservations, it took 10 minutes for desk clerk to get checked in. 5. Skipped the breakfast offered, its the worst of any motel I have ever stayed at. 6. Homeless around the hotel parking lot.
Nothing Everything was bad here, black mold in the bathroom free breakfast consisted of runny powder eggs stale bread and the creamer was out dated. The gal at the front desk was continually apologizing I felt bad for her. This hotel is next to a park and the parking is shared with a public parking lot that was full of homeless people. At night we could hear people fighting in the park which was right out side our room there was a 6 foot fence that separated the window in our room and the homeless people continued to look over it into our window we complained to the front desk but was told nothing could be done because they didn't own the park and it was a public area. Good thing we were only staying one night
I've stayed here several times. It's close (waking distance) to downtown, restaurants, bars and the beach. Room was clean, great balcony. Breakfast is marginal but they do have coffee and juice and sometimes eggs if you want to risk ptomaine poisoning, LOL. Staff is always overwhelmed although they try to help. Ice machine never working but you can get all you want at the restaurant next door. Don't go roaming around outside late at night, really sketchy area although the hotel grounds are locked up tight. Parking is really tight on holiday weekends but they always find something for you.
Very chill, relax vibe. Make yourself at home feel Coffee with almond milk available in the front desk Bar Kitchen had all the supplies you needed Nice decor Swimming pool was closed for health code violation. Hotel never disclosed it publicly. TV didn't work but with staff not being there at night, couldn't get it fixed till the next day Loud creaking noises everywhere made for a uncomfortable night's rest.
Loved the cabin like room and wonderful log bed! Only 1 lamp worked and had only about 5 min of warm shower water.
I liked the Jacuzzi and the fact it was in Ojai, California where my son now lives. The staff was pleasant when they were there. The little garden as you enter had interesting cacti. There was loud rock music playing both Saturday and Sunday night making sleep hard and guests were still partying after the bar closed on Sunday at 11 p.m. The bar is located in the cove where all the rooms are making noise unavoidable. There was no service at night with the staff coming in at 8 am. Before that, you were on your own. There is NO breakfast period. Finally, the rooms all look out on the gravel parking lot, so there were no oases to look out and enjoy the nature of Ojai.
Great location, fun vibe, great bar and pool party, free bike rentals, cool decor Pillows could be more comfortable
Free breakfast with all the fixins. Close to main street. Inside lobby had a fresh 60s vibe. The rooms looked redone. Outside parking lot and face of hotel looking very rundown and tired. I don't feel like I got what I paid for. Could have gone to the motel 6 and paid a lot less. Plus some unsavory folk lurking about.
Room was nice and spacious for my family. Excellent location from beach and downtown area. Excellent value
friendly, helpful staff....especially Alice!
Walking distance to downtown Some questionable people hanging around outside
Room looked like it was recently remodeled. Room was located next to train tracks. Didn't notice at night but In the evening.
Clean and comfortable
Best Western Inn was a great place to stay for get-away weekend. The whole staff was friendly and also very helpful with giving tips for where to go during our stay.
Remote controlled air was wonderful. Very comfortable mattress!! Best sleep I've ever had in a hotel. Construction was underway at the hotel so we had to park far away. The food was ok.
The room was clean and appeared recently renovated. I liked the microwave and refrigerator in the room. Breakfast was a plus. I heard the train both nights as I arrived at the hotel, but not while I was in my room.
Rooms are cute, staff friendly, great location. Hard beds, no hair dryer.
Good location. Nice remodeling with a cute, modern atmosphere. Soaps smelled decent. Quiet. Smelled clean. Sheets were clean. Separated from other businesses, but still in town. Pet friendly large yard. Friendly hostess Jenna greeted us at check-in. Motel style entrances to rooms. Beds were hard and uncomfortable. No shelves for soap, etc. in showers. For the last two factors, unlikely to stay here again.
Jessie from the bar was great, makes tasty hand crafted margaritas. Bell boys and housekeeping were very friendly. When I called reservations, the guy was not helpful or accommodating (when there was a mistake on our reservation). Although, I did book via a third party, he was not willing to resolve or help with it. Personally, hotels should not work via third parties (like Kayak) if they cannot resolve a problem. Makes a hotel and their staff look bad. And could ruin a vacation for a family, couple, group of friends.
The view was fantastic. They should include the parking fees in the cost to stay at the hotel. $12 a day is ridiculous.
2nd floor room had a view of HVAC system. Worst view ever.
Beautiful views and great staff. Next to both freeway AND Amtrak train
Loved that they had surf racks in the bell closet! The staff was helpful and responsive to complaints. The location is wonderful and I believe all rooms have a view of the ocean (we didn't pay extra for that). For the price, I expected this hotel to be MUCH nicer. It is very average and the bathrooms are sorely outdated. It was also very annoying that they charge $12/night for parking but their parking lot is tiny and you will probably have to park at the structure next door. If you do park in their lot, make sure you use the validation correctly or it won't let you out! We were trying to leave for a wedding and had to go back inside the hotel because the validation wouldn't let us out. Ultimately they comped my parking due to the fiasco which was appreciated, but beware!
Dont have to break the bank to get a killer ocean view room. Clean, fast and friendly staff.
view of ocean, nice bar Didn't tell me no restaurant (under construction)
LOVED THE FRONT AREA WITH FIREPIT VIEW FROM ROOM nOISE FROM NEXT ROOM
The room smelled terrible and everything seemed really old. The train waking me up 2x's during the night was terrible.
Great ocean view from the 8th floor!! Staff was very friendly. We were very comfortable! The floor was quiet. We booked through KAYAK and we're very pleased.
location, staff the noise from different parties was horrible
Convenient, nice harbor, happy restaurant open for Xmas. Long hall way on 2nd floor running kids; Luke warm jacuzi
Very friendly staff Room smelled a little stale, but was very comfortable. Have stayed at comparable hotels in similar areas for a lot less than $178 a night.
Close to the hsrbor with view of some boats. Room felt freshly remodeled. Shower was great. Tv had a menu where you could jump channels but no program descriptions. Jacuzzi was worth it. Surprised with a $10 overnight parking charge.
Clean room & friendly staff no view
Awful smell outside and tap water - sewer smell. Older hotel, was disappointing. Staff = great!
Great breakfast, abundant water in shower, large room, conveniently located. Quick response to fix a problem. A bit run down. Only usa today in am
Breakfast setup is excellent, a great value. Happy hour is nice too. Big negative is the poor internet signal. The rooms are a bit dated, the hotel needs an update.
every one was very nice I really like this hotel....It just needs a little pick me up to modernize it....
Great prices. Clean rooms. Way better than I expected. Rooms recently remodeled. Flat screen tv. Very updated bathrooms. Simple but totally worth it for a single night stay. Very friendly staff!!
Great breakfast for value hotel, friendly staff. We visited on holiday; hotel would be better for business/work travel. Aging property, needs maintenance, especially carpet.
Great location and free breakfast. Very minor but tight parking spaces in the lot.
Perfect. Will definitely stay there again. Breakfast was excellent. Curtains are see through. Not that big of a deal just saying.
Desperately need renovations. How can this property keep the Country Inn flag?
The staff were friendly and super accommodating. The location was a short walk into town but far enough away to be private and less expensive. It was next door to a golf course which permitted me to surprise my husband with the opportunity to play golf, since I knew he always has his clubs and paraphenelia in his trunk. The room was very comfortable, with two queen beds (although we only needed one) with very comfortable quilts and throws on them (also plenty of pillows), a mini kitchen with microwave, fridge and electric kettle with teas and coffees) eco-friendly goods for shower, soaps, etc., a large flat screen TV, and anything else you might need and had a lovely view from the back window. (our room was on the second floor. We noticed that the first floor rooms had little patios un back.) The hotel accommodated our request for an early check-in and a late check-out.) All together a lovely stay. Oh, and they had a continental breakfast with a wafflemaker. The only things I would suggest would be: (1) perhaps to have an option for a softer pillow rather than all pillows being on the harder side and (2) consider adding hard-boiled eggs or some other form of non-dairy protein to the continental breakfast for people whom dairy is not an option. These are only suggestions, not really dislikes.
Location, Train noise
Only complaint I have is there were no towels in the room and I had to phone for them which was a bit disappointing as I'd driven from San Francisco and just wanted a shower and go to bed. They did however bring them promptly.
The location was amazing. There is a walking overpass that takes you right to Ventura pier. Staff was very friendly, rooms were very clea, and it was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept on. My kids loved the pool. Don't let the outside fool you, it's very clean!
Gute Lage in Ventura.
Once we finally got the room we paid for, it was spacious and clean. And it's dog friendly. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They didn't have the room we booked when we arrived, so we were put into a terrible double that they claimed was non-smoking but smelled strongly of smoke (and was wedged between nonsmoking rooms). The beds were canoes and the pillows were equally uncomfortable. The poor girl handling reception was apparently the only employee working at the time and the check-in line was several families strong. I had to return to the front desk because the first two sets of key cards completely didn't work. While the staff was great, they were definitely overworked. The whole place seemed mismanaged.
Liked that it was close to what we were doing Didn't like the $75.00 incidental fee that the hotel charged that wasn't mentioned until I checked in
Close to the freeway and great value for the money. Nothing fun to do within walking distance.
Clean, with no apparent flaws, except for what I listed. The rooms were tight when I arrived. When I opened the room, a stale smell of smoke greeted me. I looked at the TV cabinet and saw an ashtray. I lived with it knowing how full it was. Upon leaving I asked the front desk staff whether this room had ever been used for smoking. She replied "no, but I would give you credit to your account, but you booked though Kayak and we cannot help you". This was the frustrating part.
I like the friendly people at the lobby n the room were clean I would defenaly would stay again at this hotel Nothing bad yo ssy
Great staff, breakfast included clean. plenty of parking. Overall a pleasant stay. Great value for your traveling dollar. I would stay there again. The internet! Oh. my. god. it was slow! Practically useless. I had to use my iPhone as a mobile hotspot to get decent internet. Used Speedtest.net to get the numbers: 0.28 Mbps down / 0.10 Mbps up with a ping of 31ms. Strong wi-fi signal, though. Notified the staff, so hopefully they will have it fixed soon.
Siehe oben
My room was upgraded to a suite. Everyone was very friendly and I enjoyed my stay very much. The location is perfect.
This hotel, overall was pretty nice. It was a pretty nice location, right by the harbor. It did seem a little outdated. The staff was pretty nice, although we didn't really have a lot of contact with them. The breakfast was okay, but there was such limited seating we had to eat in the outside area, which was locked from the inside. Other people were able to let you in, but I would hate to see what would happen once those people had left.
We could not have been happier. We were met by a wonderful staff that were available for any questions or needs we had. We had a great room that was clean and comfortable. A full breakfast was included in our stay. Bay windows overlooked the marina. We're makiong plans to go back in a few weeks! Excellent value!
My husband and I stayed here in 2007. We arrived at 11:30 am and was told we can't check in. We informed the desk clerk we were going to a Santa Cruz Island cruise and would not return till after 5 pm. She told us there wouldn't be a problem since we had reservation. Upon return, no room for us. Checked us in a room that was not what we reserved. Then they threw someone out of their room so we could have their room. I guessed the former guest was so pissed off, they dumped water all over the bed. We left to go to dinner, when returned, they gave our room to someone else. Our luggage were all over their office and some of our personal belongings were still in the room. No apology, nothing. We felt like we were treated like criminals. Will never return there.
My wife and I just visited Ventura for the first time and this hotel set the tone for a great relaxing vacation. We requested a room with a view of the harbor and a balcony which gave us beautiful sunsets and a real nautical feel for our stay. The breakfast was first class with a staff that seemed to anticipate every thing you could want or need. Our trip was to short to see and explore the Channel Islands, but we will definitely stay at this hotel when we return to do that.
The bed was super comfy & the room had a great view of the marina. We enjoyed our stay thuroughly.
I used to stay at this Hotel all the time - but like most thing in Ventura - This hotel is going down hill - I found they have all kinds of different room rates so if you make the mistake of staying make sure you work them over I paid $*+ and talked to 3 othere people that pd from $ *to $* for rm's- The Front desk the worst I have ever come accross rude and the management is just as bad - the room I had there was gum in the carpet-bathroom was dirty hair and all kinds of nasty thing around the totial sicking - we cut are trip short after our run in with this place - Don't stay - it's OVER Priced and dirity -
My husband and I do not live too far away but we love gettting away in Ventura. We love the location and the lovely view of the boats. The only problem is that this hotel is small and I often cannot get a room on short notice.
The room was great. They upgraded us to a room with a view of the harbor at no extra cost. Bed was a little firm but not bad. Price of room included self serve breakfast.
We loved the hotel. It is definately worth the extra few $$ to get the Harbor View. The view from our balcony was great! The breakfast was very tasty wtih the hot entrees a nice addition. The beds were extremely comfortable and everything was clean, clean, clean! Will be going back next month!
We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Our room and bathroom were clean and roomy, the beds were great, the kitchenette was the perfect addition and the amenities were great. Our family of 5 was quite comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The free daily breakfast was good with a nice variety. The only drawbacks are that the pool is actually located at the Four Points Sheraton next door to the Holiday Inn, so you have to walk next door, and our room faced east and the view off our patio was a high stucco wall. Otherwise, the harbor is beautiful, downtown Ventura is charming, and Santa Barbara is only 30 minutes away. We would definitely stay at this location again.
