A travel agency was able to switch my friends flights, only to be blocked at his gate by an uninformed Xiamen agent saying he needed a visa for his layover in China, ultimately forcing him to buy a whole new ticket. Xiamen never answered, reimbursed, or recitified any of this. On the flight there, flight attendants had attitudes and SMOKED IN AIRPLANE, it STANK like an ashtray!!! And the food was the worst I ever encountered."

The signage in Xiamen (I was transiting from LAX to TPE) was amazingly poor and confusing. You basically stumble from 1 floor to another based on the signage. The airport was actually very large for what appears to be a medium size city."

I have saved those and will be contacting Kayak for some type of reasonable compensation for this terrible error on their part. No message at all would be much better than a message sending me to the wrong place!"

To make matters ever worse I was sandwiched between 1 overweight man that was spilling into my seat and another man how packed proper hygiene. When I arrived in Shanghai, I was held at the Customs for extra 20 or 30 minutes because the airline provided a passport number I used more than 10 years ago. My luggage was held at Pudong airport quite a few days. Each day, they said something different to me... When it's the time for me to go back, I was held again at PEK, because of the different passport number they kept in their system. Even though I explained to them how I purchased the ticket with my current passport number and I have no idea where the problem happened. They insisted that it was my own fault. My gmail did not work properly in China. I asked them for help by providing me the ticket agent contact info in the States. They said that they did not know. I should go where I bought my ticket. I had to spend hours to contact friends in the States to find the phone number of justfly.com. Then, I made international call to justfly for about hour to have the problem fixed. I did not provide any wrong info when purchasing the ticket. The problem was made between the airline and their agent. They, as professionals, could easily have the problem solved but they blamed the customer for the mistake. I had to spend so much extra time and money to cover their mistake, at the risk of missing my flight. That's the worst experience I ever had for international flight."

Negativ: "Not being able to do online check in in Frankfurt because the hotel did not have Explorer. Google Chrome does not work with China Eastern. It took me an hour to discover that in Korea before I switched. How about a warning up front? Just nothing but error codes. Finally, the check in process in Frankfurt was outlandish for MU 220. We arrived too early; only to find Delta in place of CE I get that. He suggested coming back at 10:30. We did. Still no CE clerks. At about 10:45 someone showed up. So when another gentleman got in line so did we. This individual who started rearranging the stanchions notice us standing in line and offered no information. Then a tour group showed up and filled in the rest of the line but in the line next to us. Finally, at about 11:35 the clerks were ready to start check in. Just prior to that they had changed the electronic signs to show that we were now in the Priority check in line. No problem, so I thought, because the first individual had seen us waiting since she got there. However, when the poor gentleman, who was in front of us, tried to check in in the economy line he was refused and so were my wife and I. The only explanation the person gave was that she "was only there to care for the economy check in line". No compassion, no caring no thinking outside the box! The tour guide noticed the situation and motioned us ahead of her group. My wife and I passed to a counter who did her job; but another CE counter rep refused to simply do his job and check in the poor man in. He was ushered to the back of the line beyond the stanchions. This left a bad taste in my mouth. I recently watched a documentary about how they were handled the great amount of passengers at the "World's busiest Airport". They failed to mention not really caring about the one lone individual who had showed up early. My wife and I have discussed this problem and will seriously consider not using China Eastern any time soon!"

Very dissatisfying experience. I take over 50 flights a year - worst assistance experience ever."

To then board the flight and sit on the tarmac, engines running, simply waiting, no explanations again!! Will we ever fly China Airways again?? For this reason I am having a second thought about flying Air China via Beijing. Also, they have random check before boarding."

Negativ: "The departure out of Beijing was delayed some 1.5 hours because of one person who apparently left his passport near the gate prior to boarding. It was a full flight. I was just stunned that they would inconvenience hundreds of people whose schedules, including mine, were affected by their decision. May be it was a policy issue. But the crew didn't explain it very well, seemed more sympathetic towards the individual. While that was a kind solution to that one individuals but I wondered about the judgement of the crew. It was very frustrating for the rest of the people waiting onboard. Also this was the first time booking through justfly.com because it seemed the cheapest but the hidden (additional) cost was in the seat selection stage afterwards. Kinda misleading."
