Great car! Positiv: The lady was very helpful and was easy to communicate with given our language differences. Once we decided to get the GPS she upgraded the car to one with GPS built in rather than using a hand held unit.

reservation does not mean a car is reservedNegativ: My reserved automatic car was not available upon arrival. Thus, we had to scramble to find an available car at another provider and pay a much higher rate. None of the other companies were surprised, saying that this is business as usual for this location. DO NOT RENT FROM ENTERPRISE at the TGV station in Avignon. They will not hold your reservation for you.
Be careful what time you say you'll pick up the car.Negativ: We said we'd pick up the car at 12:30 and when we arrived late by train at 2:45, they had no car for us. I'm guessing they were able to rent it for a higher price than what I got via Kayak.
Shakedown by agents --planned scamNegativ: On review of car the check out agent said, those marks aren't worth noting. On return different agent said you did damage but could be handled easily--obviously wanting bribe. We refused to sign because damage was already on car. Enterprise charged HUGE amount to credit card even though we protested. This is obviously a planned thing. AND we had damage insurance. Had only 15 minutes to get into station so no time to argue with them--they know renters will be in hurry--now trying to deal with them from US.

Couldn't have done it without the GPSPositiv: I reserved the smallest standard transmission car and upgraded to a slightly larger model with a GPS which was comfortable, easy to drive and enabled us to navigate the very small roads in little towns in France. Many roads are poorly marked with the route signs so we couldn't have traveled without the GPS. Pick up and drop off went smoothly and the taxi stand (to get a cab to take us to the riverboat in Avignon) was just outside the rental agency's door.
