My husband and I spent our 39th anniversary at Sunset Key Cottages and were delighted by the peaceful setting and easy access to old town Key West. The cottages are spacious and beautifully appointed, the beds are indeed ''heavenly,'' and the garden views are as pretty as the ocean views. Bring your beach shoes because the beach is pristine and private but the shells can be sharp. Dinner served on the beach under a full moon was the crowning touch and we will definitely be back.
First time writing a review. Very disappointed in our stay (we are still here). Couple points - Positives 1) fantastic setting and the Cotteges are solid - great for families 2) Latitudes restaurant is very good Negatives 1) Check in is a difficult - The cotteges are a sub set of the Weston Sunset Key resort. The cotteges are supposed to be high end - We checked in and had to wait 15 to 20 minutes for someone to show up at the desk. After waiting - for awhile - three people showed up all at once from the back 2) Concierge - booking things to do in advance was nearly impossible - we called three times in advance. Once - we were put on hold and I gave up. Second time it just rang. And third time - she said she'd call back and never did. Finially - we called a fourth time and got ahold of someone who was helpful. That said - Jenny (from Wisconsin) is fantastic. She has been great since we've been here 3) Beach - bring your shoes. Its exceptionally rocky. Fine when you are wearing surfing ...
We had an amazing stay at this facility. The cottages are extremely comfortable and romantic. The views were only surpassed by the company I was with.
Every time we come back to Sun Set Key it gets better! This is our favorite family Vacation.
My wife and I travel often and like to stay in nice places. Sunset Key is the best by FAR! Get there before you die. You will never forget it. We find ourselves comparing every other vacation to our time spent at Sunset Key.....nothing compares.
I would definitely stay here again. The island is serene, beautiful, and only a 5 minute ferry ride from Key West. The new Latitudes restaurant is wonderful - excellent cuisine, attentive service, and right on the beach (some tables are even set in the sand!).
I am writing this review almost a year after out vacation at Sunset Key. Yet, I feel a wave of calm wash over me as I reflect on our stay. It is a lovely place. Lush landscaping, white sand beaches, an occasional hammock overlooking the water, quiet. It's a short ferry ride away from the hustle and bustle of Key West. Yet, it's a world away. We visited Key West daily during our stay, but always looked forward to returning to our retreat. The restaurant is fabulous. Excellent food, excellent service, with outside tables at the edge of the white beach. We enjoyed it so much that we ate lunch and dinner there almost every day. The cottages are every bit as lovely as the photographs on the website. The porch was a delightful place to spend each morning reading over the complimentary paper that had just been delivered along with a basket of freshly-prepared pastries. I cannot wait to go back.....
If you can afford to splurge on your accomodations, this is the place. A skip across the water with all the access to Key West but a nice break away from it too.
location and surroundings - beach no, they did end up putting us in a larger cottage - 2 bedrooms instead of the quaint 1 bedroom we were expecting.
A very nice and charming place to stay. A great value and perfect for couples. The staff are wonderful! We will definitely be back. If you decide not to pay the $25/day to park in their spaces it can get a bit tricky to find parking.
everything is perfect! excellent place for stay! love this hotel!
The resort is broken up into small pool areas. We were given a street facing room which had road construction going on all week, making the balcony unusable and preventing sleep at night. The VACANCY sign was posted at the office. We feel they should have been sensitive to this situation and given us another room.
It was a beautiful hotel with really stunning landscaping and great pools. Pricey, but worth it in my opinion
My husband and I came to Key West for a short getaway. We were very please with Ambrosia. The staff and amenities met all of our expectations. The staff was lovely, the breakfast was delicious with many hot and cold choices, the property was beautiful and quiet and we loved being only a couple of blocks from Duval street. We liked that we could relax and recharge at Ambrosia when we needed to and we could walk down to Duval street for the action. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Staff was very helpful and friendly, room was very comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay again!
The staff here is amazing, especially Lexi at the front desk/office. She constantly answered our questions and gave great suggestions and met all of our needs. She was extremely accommodating to things we needed while traveling with a 2.5 yr old. The rest of the staff was amazing as well, we just mainly interacted with Lexi. The rooms are very clean with comfortable beds. The hotel is very quaint with beautiful grounds and great pools. They provide a full complimentary hot breakfast which was delicious. It is very close to everything you need in town so you can walk almost everywhere! If we came back to Key West we would definitely stay at the Ambrosia again! The ONLY con I would say is that the wifi is very slow.
Location was excellent! Continental breakfast and happy hour of wine and cheese was very well done. Three flights of stairs to carry bags up and down without assistance offered. Had to pay for bike rentals from the hotel. Many places have them as a complimentary service. The tv was small and didn't rotate properly to be seen adequately from the bed.
The staff were all pleasant and informative. Amenities just as they said. I love bananas you can add them to the free breakfast. All in all it was a very pleasant stay. I have already recomended The Cabana Inn to my son.
Cleanliness Location...when I left, there was no one available for check out
The staff were super polite! The room was not the cleanest! Hair all over bathroom. Seemed over priced as well.
Great pool, no children, quiet. We can even manage the roosters for no kids and a real pool. :)
SHORT WALK TO DUVAL AND SIGHTS OF OLD TOWN. STAFF EXTREMELY COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY. NICE HAPPY HOUR AND CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. ROOM WAS QUIET. NO
An amazing hotel, especially the staff does a great job! Worth the price! Ask for the receptionist, he did an outstanding great job...Without him our stay wouldn't have been so great in Key West! Thank you!
Loved the location. Near the marina. Near Duval Street. Resturant hours during the summer were limited. Nobody cares. Restaurants are everywhere.
Room Too expensivee
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Extremely relaxing and beautiful place. It was brand new, clean, and luxurious! Nothing
The hotel was amazing, very clean, quiet, friendly staff, great location, wonderful landscaping, clean salt pools. We really enjoyed our stay. This was the best place we have stayed in key west so far. We will return. My only suggestion is to watch for those extra fees (resort fee, parking fee, room amenities...). It was a bit much on top of the already expensive cost per night.
We were greeted in the office by Scott and Dennis, both of whom were very welcoming and friendly. They answered our questions, showed us around the property, and were more than helpful in getting us situated. The location is tough to beat -- it's a block off Duvall St. and walking distance to the waterfront (and if you're planning a trip on the Dry Tortugas ferry, it's a stones throw from the marina). There's no parking on site, but they offer a reduced rate at a garage a few blocks away. The property is beautifully maintained with modern conveniences. The bed was comfortable and the adjoining porch was enjoyable in the evening. Keep in mind this is a block from Duvall Street and no amount of sound proofing can remove all of the noise drifting by on the street. It was also a bit on the pricey side, though not out of character for that neighborhood.
I have stayed at the Cypress House a couple times now. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. The room I stayed in was very comfortable and clean. Also, the location is great being a couple blocks from the best bars on Duval Street. Nothing
