wrecked and rewarded!Positiv: We had a wreck and the agent emphasized that we had purchased insurance so we didn't need to spend the remainder of our vacation working about the vehicle. He was quick to point out his relief we were all ok (FIRST question asked was if we were ok). When we got a replacement vehicle we were upgraded to a nicer vehicle. And at the drop off the staff we great about the wreck. Live person interactions at pick-up and drop off were very good. Despite some frustration as noted below, I would rent with them again and my over all experience was great. Hats off to Dodge for designing a van that can take a tremendous hit and leave all my family unharmed!Negativ: 1. When were unable to find the Alamo office at Disneyland, we called Alamo. The agent acted like we were stupid, seemed annoyed we called, and told us there was no office at Disneyland. We were instructed to go to a location several miles away. When we called a cab, the driver told us where to find the office so we wouldn't waste money on a needless trip.
2. When we wrecked it was VERY difficult to find out how to report the accident to Alamo. Calls to the main line resulted in long holds or worse, agents not putting us on hold and discussing my question with supervisors while we got to listen in. They wouldn't tell you what they were doing either, they would just be gone. We were told to call the office where we rented the vehicle but it was closed. It literally took me several hours to find someone who could help us. CLUELESS is how I would describe Alamo's rental agents. I finally guessed at an option and talked to a very helpful gentleman who took my statements. He gave me a number to call in the morning as it was now very late at night. When I called that number the agents answering the phone were once again clueless. I gave up and called the same number I had success on the night before. I was in a remote location and needed a replacement car. This leads to #3
3. There was no Alamo within about 150 mile radius so they offered their subsidiary Enterprise. But in order to get that vehicle it would have to be towed to our location and I was told I would likely have to pay the towing and mileage fee, which would have been outrageous given it would have had to be towed about 40 miles or so. So much for the promise "we pick you up"which kept playing while I was on hold with them. In the end I ended up finding a ride into town from a sympathetic soul, so hats off to the hospitality of the people of Window Rock, Az!

Price ProblemPositiv: Price of rent in the first week is ok, When I requested an extension time for rental the price increase which is inappropriate and unfair.
Contrary, the price should be decrease in order to keep the client satisfied.
Cars here turn out to be more expensive than adverPositiv: Fast pickup Negativ: When given my car rental keys, I was told to bring it back with the same amount of gas. So that's what i did and even to a picture of it before i left the lot. Returned the vehicle with more gas and was charged a penalty because it was not enough gas. Even after explaining how i returned the car with more gas than when i received it, i was still charged extra. I was also charge extra for being an hour late on daylight savings day which happened to be my birthday so that's that.

Car Problems Handled OKPositiv: SFO were VERY helpful! And the staff in Anaheim seemed nice.Negativ: Rented a small car and hit the road. About 30 miles later, headed north and far past the nearest Alamo it started to make noises in the right front corner. As far as I can tell, the fender well was dragging on the tire. I got out a few times and there didn't seem to be any damage going on. Called customer support and his only suggestion was to drive back to Anaheim (now closed) or carry on and get it checked at the next Alamo (SFO). I called the next day as the noise was louder and the customer support person suggested I get to SFO and exchange it or get my money back. He said he'd call ahead and let them know, which he apparently didn't do (SOF had NO idea what I was talking about. Anyway, SFO gave us the remainder of our money back and the trip was accomplished OK, so alls well that ends well, I guess.
Positiv: I liked the fast and courteous service, cleanliness and very personal service. I will use ALAMO whenever I need a rental car. Thanks you very much. Negativ: Nothing at all.
Positiv: The customer was good. Christopher was nice, courteous and explained things clearly. Negativ: The pick-up location, we had to walk for 10 minutes through a few plies of stairs until we reached the rooftop of the parking complex to get our car.
Typically, the car will be driven up in front of the office for us.

A bit dissatifiedPositiv: The representatives at the John Wayne airport, who eventually assisted me, were great! They took care of me with in a timely manner and worked with me to make sure I had the car I needed.
Negativ: I initially picked up my vehicle at the Anaheim location. The young lady at the counter was rude and not helpful. She was condescending and had a terrible attitude to be working in customer service.
AVIS at DisneylandPositiv: It was close to my hotel and easy to find my car.Negativ: The person at the Disneyland area location for pickup was rude. My reservation was duplicated in their system (I never received notification of a second one) and he proceeded to lecture me on what seems like was possibly a bug in their system. The car has obviously been smoked in, and the cleaning didn’t cover the smell well.
Negativ: It was very expensive, I paid 107$ for small sedan , for one day

Positiv: The minivan was ready when I arrived to pick it up. The 2016 van had 36,000 miles on it but did not have any mechanical problem.Negativ: The interior of the KIA minivan I rented for 5 days was the dirtiest of any vehicle I ever rented in more than 30 years. The carpet, seats, and windows were covered with dirt, smudge and trash. Cup holders had rotten food in them. One seat looked as if someone had thrown up on. All six of us driving from Anaheim to Phoenix and back got sick. On return, the branch manager blamed the dirtiness on "Avis Corporation". I said the branch manager is responsible for cleaning of the cars not Avis. At the end he gave me a mediocre $27 discount off of $461 rental invoice with an apology. I said apology not accepted. Overall, a very bad experience from a reputable rental company.
BO and return service was less than informativePositiv: price and ease of getting the key was very quick. We did not have to wait but a few minutes before we were on our way. Probably the quickest I have ever rented a car. pick up was in Anaheim and drop off was LAX.Negativ: Car stunk like B.O. for 2 days. We had to have the windows down to air it out and prevent us from vomiting. The return service was less than informative. I was told to park in a walkway, then told by someone else that I should not have parked there. There was no formal communication that the return was checked in or if I was getting a receipt. It's not that the questions were not asked but it was either mentioned walking away from me or just plain belligerence.
Do not usePositiv: The vehicle was ok, not the cleanest but, the drop off and complimentary shuttle at LAX was excellent.Negativ: Make sure you have a paper copy of your insurance or you will get a very hard time. We had no issues when we rented at the LAX location and no issues dropping off there but, the very rude man the Anaheim Avis/Budget rental office almost didn’t let us rent as he was angry we went through kayak and had no wifi for me to show him my insurance document. He was argumentative and down right rude. I will let people know not to rent from this location again. He racked the bill up as high as he could to make a buck!

Positiv: The agent was able to fix my billing issue with some creative computer work. Negativ: Agent had to fix the automatic addition of a fuel charge as I had driven very few miles; however, after I showed my receipt for gas that was purchased down the street, he fixed it. This charge is something that needs to not happen automatically, as other people may be more distracted and end up paying a lot more than they were expecting.
Positiv: That the car had a full tank of gas and was ready to go and clean.Negativ: The associate was rude and condescending to not just me but all the customers.

Reservation but no car availNegativ: I made my reservation and when I checked to make sure my car was ready at 10am I was told no cars until around 4pm unless I wanted to take a 15 passenger van. I then made reservations thru Alamo and picked up my car around 11:30 am and it only had 800 miles on it. I was very pleased with Alamo but displeased with Enterprise. First time Enterprise did not have a car ready for me.
Neil Rutkowski - California RentalPositiv: The counter service was great. The car itself was great.Negativ: I booked this rental at <$100 total estimated and it was close to $400. I was put in a larger vehicle not because I requested it, but I was led to believe they were doing me a favor. I was issued an external GPS but the care was also equipped with GPS. I was told the drop-off fee to another location would be waived. I'm not sure it was. I really feel like I got upcharged under high pressure situations (raining coming into LAX) and tight time leaving SNA. If someone could review this rental, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks, Neil.
Great ServicePositiv: The service was superb. Even though we were a couple minutes late, they were very accommodating. They even upgraded the car. Negativ: The car, a Jeep Compass, we rented wasn't very comfortable, lacked power and wasn't very ergonomic. It did get us to where we wanted to go.

Again, NO indication you're going to a hotel, and no signage at the hotel to guide you. I had to circle around and finally ask a valet (who looked at me like I should have known).
The Hertz desk is closed on Sundays, so I attached our receipt to the keys and dropped in the slot. Good enough, I suppose....

Worst experience EVERPositiv: Nothing. Negativ: The agent had already left when I arrived - 5pm. I called into customer service and the only thing that agent could tell me is "well they are closed", not giving a solution. So I asked what other locations weee nearby - and would they honor the same rate? She said no. I went to the other location and they told. E they needs 24 hours notice then tried to upsell me on a specialty car or SUV. So I went to Enterprise and got a great car at a better rate.

Positiv: Location.Negativ: Long wait. Waited 1 hour 30 minutes! Over booked more than 15 people on that day. They had no cars and have them look for another rental company. Good thing that there are 2 other car rental companies near by. Oh. It was on Sunday. They close at 1 pm. only 1 person was working and 1 more joined before closing.

The employee did his best but they had too many customers and I ended up with a car that I didn't need, although it was an upgrade, that day made me late to appointments I had and they seemed to value clean car rentals instead of rentals being on time. The staff was swamped and overworked because the system wasn't working properly.

They gave our car awayNegativ: We went to the Hertz location for our pickup that was supposed to be $20 for the day. When we got there they informed us that they had given our car away. The only car they had left was a Mustang, and they offered it to us for $200 a night . Again, our original reservation was for TWENTY dollars a night. Poor customer service. Would not rent from them.
Requested a 2nd Picture ID for a Canadian Driver'sNegativ: I had to walk over from my hotel to the Hertz office for about 15 min to pick up the car when I got there and started the process I was asked for a 2nd picture ID because my driver's license was "International" and I didn't carry my passport with me as I left it in the safe inside my hotel room. They didn't even have a child booster seat in that location so I asked the attendand if I could take the car go back to my hotel get my passport then show it to someone else at the other location where I needed to pick up the seat and she refused. In the end I didn't rent with Hertz but Alamo who were 2 blocks away from my hotel and didn't ask me to show a 2nd ID.
A real sweet ride!Positiv: I liked the brand spanking new Dodge Challenger R/T. Very clean ride that got us from point a to point b with style. I actually had to refuel it with high octane eagle tears. I will rent from here again.

Positiv: The staff at this location was excellent and went out of there way to try to find the perfect vehicle for me ... and the vehicle (Lincoln Navigator) was very nice.Negativ: I had wanted a 4wd for our family ski trip to Colorado, but they could not promise that the vehicle provided on my pick-up day would be a 4wd (and it wasn't). That just doesn't seem right. They were able to find a very nice large luxury vehicle (Navigator) for me that they brought in from another location that morning ... so I had to wait a bit for it (but no big deal). Fortunately, the lack of 4wd did not become an issue on our trip.
