Positiv: The car was clean and ran well. I had no trouble finding the pick up point in the terminal, where from the tram took me to the ACE rental office. Negativ: I was asked too many questions. I had to provide proof of insurance. If I did n't have that it would be another $13 a day. Fortunately I had it, but no one has asked me for it in years. Ace is trying to get every penny it can out of you

Pick up in Fort Lauderdale - Last time for AcePositiv: Didn't like much except the price.Negativ: Customer service in Ft Lauderdale was almost nonexistent. I apparently arrived "late" by 45 minutes and my reservation had "expired". They really didn't care, and even though they repeatedly said that they DID have vehicles, they would need special permission from "Miami" to reinstate my reservation. That took over 90 minutes. I missed my dinner meeting. There was another couple in the same office with the same issue at the same time. Seems like a phone call could have been faster.

No replies to contact. Positiv: People were all nice. Negativ: Paid $170 deposit and only was refunded about 10%. After several attempts, no explanation was received.
Hidden chargesPositiv: I liked the online price much better than the actual price.Negativ: Quoted one price online and quadrupled at counter with hidden fees. When I booked I was quoted $458 for two weeks but when I got to the counter it ballooned to $1300 with mandatory fees which I found to be offensive, I can understand an extra $100-300 unexpectedly but $900.

False Advertising Negativ: This was the only rental company that claimed to be “in terminal” and no need for shuttle where every other company mentioned you would need to take a shuttle. Advantage was where every other rental company and a shuttle was required to get there. I paid a little extra to be in terminal however they were where everyone else was and it wasn’t convenient at all. Very disappointed, as it made it more difficult to get to and I feel like I was duped and paid extra for no reason.

Horrible experience Positiv: The employees did their best to accommodate and calm down all the angry people. Not the store manager, he was horrible. Christopher Henry, that particular locations manager, has no business being a manager. Negativ: The entire experience!!! What’s the point in reserving your car ahead of time...weeks... if they aren’t going to have any cars upon your arrival. Budget, one of the largest rental car companies in the nation, ran out of cars to rent. I was there for an hour waiting for a car to be ready. Needless to say, I missed several appointments due to not having a car. I will never rent with them again.

Beware: Economy Rent a Car not the same as Economy Car RentalsPositiv: Got the car we reserved online - not a substitute and no upselling. Negativ: Don’t do it. This was more of a fly-by-night operation than the “real” Economy car rental place. Need to bring your insurance coverage declaration page. Not just proof of insurance.
Beware of many extra fees not disclosed on website and requirement to sign an agreement if you don’t take their insurance that all extra costs including downtime for vehicle repairs will be charged to your personal credit card.
Pickup and return is offsite from airport, so you will need a gps. There is a shuttle and bus transfer to/from airport.
Terrible Positiv: The car was clean and the drop off was easy. Negativ: They give you the cheapest prices up front but when you get there it’s plus, plus, plus. Make sure you read the terms and conditions word for word, because they hide a lot in there and once you’re at their counter, you’re screwed. I ended up having to pay $75 more than anticipated because you have to have a certain Amount of liability coverage, or you have to buy theirs. Florida’s drivers get an added surcharge and DO NOT get unlimited miles. Read, read, read. And the girl at the counter was very rude. Would NOT recommend this company at all.
Taken for a ridePositiv: The drop offNegativ: Insurance shannenigans... according to Florida law apparently drivers need to provide liability coverage apart from collision coverage. So you expect to be able to use you car insurance rental coverage to address that. Economy in an attempt to sell their own coverage requires a letters, not just your card, to release you rental. If you don’t go with it you forfeit you prepayment. Also they don’t allow for couples to use credit card from the spouse for payment... but they only tell you at the store and then they charge you 5% of the already paid amount to change cards...or you have to pay a daily fee for the spouse to be a second driver...
I requested to see all that in writing when I asked why that info was not provide during the online purchase and they don’t have it. But pushed a 20 page stack in front of me to pretend they did...
Checking out took us 1.5hrs... cause all other costumers had to deal with the same surprises... Shamefull fiasco! Not the beginning of a vacation you look forward to.

Sunpass issueNegativ: When I went To pick up the car, I found out I could not use my own Sunpass account. I had to use Economy's! And, I was being charged $9.95 a day whether I used tolls or not. This was not mentioned anywhere when I went to book the rental online. The only other option I was given was to pay out right for the tolls at the toll booths plus pay an additional $50 to Economy! Very disappointed and will not use their cars again.

Hidden costs Negativ: I’ve never had so much trouble renting a car. I get there and walk in give them my name. He asks for the card I used to book the rental, sees it’s a debit card and tells me I have to pay an extra $10 a day because that’s a liability. I don’t use credit cards, and never had this with enterprise. Then in order to use my own insurance, normally my insurance card is just fine, not here, they want the declaration page. Talk about making you go through hoops. After an unsuccessful attempt of me trying to find that online, a manager comes over and says it’s fine to use my insurance card. Now let’s get to the fees: If you go through a toll and don’t have a sun pass it’s up to $100 fee. But if you pay just another $10/day you’re covered. They pretty much almost threaten you with this, that if you don’t get it you’re screwed. Worried about anything happening and your insurance may not cover? Just another $5/day we got you covered. Again, I understand it’s a business and you want to sell more but they’re overly hard pressed on it. There as a couple other things I didn’t even pay attention to because o was so fed up at this point, I just wanted to get out of there. I’ll stick with enterprise anytime I need a rental, and I’d advise you to do so too.

I dropped it off in Las Vegas, and NO drop fee!Negativ: Rental unit I used had thin rubber on front tires, because the tires had never been rotated. But tires held-up fine.
Positiv: The Florida drive-out was fabulous - a beyond-wonderful rate for a one way spring season rental. I am delighted to know about this program for future years. The full size car I originally reserved had a maintenance issue, so I was given a little smaller basically new car wth only 1000 miles on it that was zippier and actually better for my journey overall. I drove through four states in a perfectly working car, with unlimited miles and with car confidence. I thanked my car at the end - haha. Negativ: Since there are tolls in Florida with no toll-taker, I found myself confused about what to do with that, since my rental rep told me I could pay tolls by hand all over Florida, which isn't true. I would like the toll collection policy to be clarified at the time of rental. Other than that, everything was great.

High TaxesPositiv: Upwards of 30%. I have rented off the airport and the taxes were 7%. For Enterprise this amounts to a $13 cab ride twice. So if you are not using very many days it may not be worth going off site. Negativ: High taxes.

I cancelled this reservation more than 24 hours in advance and received a cancellation confirmation, yet they still charged me $30 for not showing up to claim the car. I have since called, spoken with someone, forwarded the cancellation notice, and called several more times, but they have yet to refund my $30. They will, because I'm going to continue to pursue this. And I'm never going to use Enterprise again.

Rude Service - cancelled my rental!Positiv: I liked how they were in the airport.Negativ: I Didn't like how rude the service person was. She gave me a hard time about the vehicle I was renting wanting insurance proof stating all of these specifics that NO RENTAL COMPANY EVER has asked for. Said I was 1/2hr early and the van might not be ready but I was in fact 1/2hr past my pick up time. I told my friend that she was being a rude person and she listened to what I said to him and called her supervisor who promptly cancelled my reservation. I was travelling with 8 people and felt stranded. Worst experience ever.

Price was very good. Negativ: The car pickup took a little longer than I expected but the agent was very efficient.
The car was older than I expected and that I received from other rental companies and had a number of scratches and blemishes.

NOT SO E-Z Rent-a-carNegativ: Check in was incredibly long process. Archaic compared to all other car rentals. Had to put up $200 deposit in addition to credit card which I've never experienced with other car rentals. Returned car 13 hours early and got no cost reduction consideration.
Rental rate was okay before everything else Positiv: The car was the one I requested. The daily rate was good but you have to pay for a lot more.Negativ: The guy who checked me in told me I had to buy the toll package as the toll plazas don't take cash anymore, WRONG. The toll plazas take cash and the tolls are about 75 CENTS each when and if you encounter them. The toll RATE was $10/day!!! Wasted $40+ dollars when I could've paid a few cents each day. Total scam. This was in Florida.
Too many extra chargesPositiv: It was ok.Negativ: To many addional charges. Wha started as a great deal turned out to be no so great because they stick you with additional charges that lots of other companies don't.
Positiv: Clean, nice Jeep Cherokee ...excellent car for the price. Negativ: That we had to take two different shuttle buses from the airport to get to Fox. The price was good but honestly, I'd rather have spent a few dollars more and rented from one of the companies onsite at the airport.
Very friendly staff!Positiv: Fox Rental Car is off airport location, so need to take another shuttle from the rental car station. The staff was very friendly, recommended places to go and provided a nicer car.

No hard sales for upgrades and they give you good advice.Negativ: The cars are awful, I didn’t even know cars came so basic before. Car was in bad shape , alignment was off ... seemed like there was no power steering and it would always try to lean twards the left. I didn’t discover this till after I was in the highway, after waiting for the shuttle for half an hour and another hour for the car I was not going back.
Deposit sucksNegativ: For locals they charge a 500 deposit which is not fair even if you rented from them before
I got hit over the head Negativ: I booked and paid for the rental prior to pick it up, my pick up was scheduled on 12/25/17 my fly got canceled and I got there on the 12/26 when I got there, they said the car that I booked was no longer available, and there was no more Cars on the same categorie as I had reserved, I ended up having to pay double the amount that I was supposed to pay in order to get another car.

They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING Positiv: The car was clean. They said they were upgrading us but they just gave us the type of car I rented. Negativ: It’s so frustrating to rent with Hertz because you think you rented the car for one price. Then you go to pick up the car and you have to pay almost triple for the minimum insurance. Sure you can go without insurance, but the whole time you’ll be uneasy. The thing about insurance is they have the same policy weather or not you take out extra, but they charge you for it separately.
Were You thinking of sharing the driving one of the 5 days? Extra fee for everyday.
Your next question is Do you want to buy a full tank of gas upfront or $10/gallon later? You think, I’m only using a quarter tank, I’ll remember to fill up. Then there is no gas station near the airport and you might miss your flight to fill up the tank.
So I started thinking my car rental was $120 for 5 days, I ended up spending close to $700! With a medium insurance and extra driver for a day.
Please hertz- make your insurance policies and extra fees something we can add on upfront for a more reasonable price.
I honestly don’t see why insurance isn’t automatically included (besides from a 100% profit standpoint).

Worst rental experienc everPositiv: The car was cheap. Now I know why...Negativ: The service at this off-airport site was very slow and unorganized. I was very surprised at this for a Hertz that the service was so bad. The car was banged up, got it with little gas, had to wait over 45 minutes. An overall bad experience and not what i expected from Hertz.
Incredibly disappointed - terrible process and felt taken advantage ofNegativ: When I made the reservation (which was through Priceiine), there was ZERO mention that the car drop off location was different from the airport. The system provided an address and no customer who is picking up a car at the airport would expect that the rental company would direct drop off at a different location. I was quoted $36 and when the agent identified a different drop off location, I told that my fee would be $120. Horrible communication, zero effort to assist with customer service and i will NEVER rent from Hertz again. Total disaster.

Negativ: Unfortunately our GPS was not working and I was originally told to come get a new on. This during major traffic hours...I was able to work it out where instead of 4 hours in traffic I purchased a GPS and had the charge taken off my bill. For my inconvenience I was also able to bring the vehicle back basically empty so the whole thing only cost me about $25 out of pocket. The folks at National definitely reached out to make it right. I would use KAYAK again for sure!

Agent after 3 long hours at 3 am yelled out "no more cars so go somewhere else for a car". Only car I could find elsewhere was a small car for $300! What is the purpose of having a reservation?? it took an hour to get a vehicle that had been reserved in advance.
They had a group of us(separate customers) waiting outside, not acknowledging /helping us, saying we had to wait for cars to be cleaned, unable to find keys, and in my case, allowing my car to be reassigned inside the terminal, resulting in an even longer wait.
Smell vomit Positiv: It was quick to pick the car and located on the terminal Negativ: We had to keep the windows open because obviously someone did vomit on the car and the smell stayed

Positiv: Had to return the first vehicle within an hour due to the service engine light staying on. The swap out was quick and I was upgraded to a bigger vehicle for the same price.

Negativ: Entered the airport code to search for a car. Assumed we would be taking a shuttle to address of the pickup, but we had to take a taxi to a downtown location. Then we paid additional fee to drop the car at the airport. The trunk of the car had not been checked for trash. The car itself was fine and the staff efficient.

A total nightmarePositiv: nothingNegativ: Basically nothing. We reserved this car because it was a great price for a one way from FLL to Indy. We called ahead to see if it could be paid for with a debit card and was told that was fine. When we got there, we were told we could not rent a luxury car with a debit card. I didn't care if it was luxury or not, it's just the price was good. So we had to get a different vehicle instead and had to wait all afternoon for it to be delivered. Also, there was no shuttle from the airport. When I reserved the car, I wasn't told that I'd have to find my own transportation to your off site location.
Overall pleasant experiencePositiv: comfort, stability, and room of the Kia SoulNegativ: First car offered had a flat. The one I left with had low air pressure in one of the tires. The sensor let me know of the problem. I had to check tires and input some air.

I almost had a heart attack!Negativ: Returning my 2 day car rental. Was asked if I wanted an email receipt. Sure. At the airport a few hours early, stopped for lunch and opened my email, only to find that my $90 rental was charged as $358 on my visa. Called the 800# and they couldn't help til the next day b/c my billing wasn't on their computer yet. I had time (and wanted to be able to sleep that night!), so I went back to the Thrifty counter and had it corrected. they were very helpful and handled my issue immediately. Good job, Thrifty! I'll def be back!

When we went outside there was over 30 people waiting around for cars to show up as they had no cars left in the lot. Everyone had to chase down one employee who had the clipboard with Hand written names on them. There was no time estimate for when the car would arrive and some people were waiting over 45 minutes in the hot garage. It was like waiting at a popular restaurant first try to get your name on the list then try to see where you were on the list later on. I’ll give one employee credit she came out and passed out bottles of cold water to people waiting
