Positiv: The sales agent was accommodating. Negativ: The counter was busy and I found it tiresome to wait around to get some unresolved questions. The SUV that I rented appeared to be fine however there was windshield wiper fluid. It was totally empty. I reported this to the agent in Buffalo who tried to convince me that it was frozen. That was the reason given. This is the way they justified the fact that they didn't have fluid. Totally unacceptable given the conditions that I had to drive on in the winter storm.

Great DealPositiv: The price was excellent. The car was practically brand new. It’s a nice model with a lot of technological features that made the trip nice. Negativ: I don’t have anything to complain about.
unorganizedPositiv: Car was clean, at least.Negativ: Ridiculously long line with one employee apparently working the counter for three different car rental companies. Stood in line for 20 minutes before getting served (in part because all of the super-special priority people get to cut in line), and by then it was after midnight. Employee tells us: the computer says you were renting the car yesterday, not today. Us: "when we got in line, it was yesterday." Had he never worked the late shift? Pro tip: people on planes arriving at 11:30 pm are sometimes still standing in your line at midnight. It took 10 minutes for the employee to wrap his head around the fact that we'd hoped to be on our way before midnight and get the rental finished. Drop-off was also a mess, with all the parking spaces full and no one to direct people where to go. And the car was just uncomfortable. I'm on the short side, and there was no way to adjust the seat comfortably so that I had back support without the headrest shoving my head uncomfortable forward--even with a jacket rolled up behind me to compensate.
Road TripPositiv: Great deal! Excellent gas miliage, comfortable, plenty of room and fun to drive. Kayak made it simple! Negativ: Nothing negative.
We were refused the rental because we didn't have a credit cardNegativ: Avis refused me the rental so I went to another rental agency. Employees were unhelpful and downright rude. I will not be conducting business with them in the future and advise you not to waste your time dealing with their beaurocratic policies and demoralizing staff.

Someone dropped off a Ford Explorer at Budget just after I started to switch to Hertz. Got that for the same price as original reservation. Guy at the desk was really good with angry me!.

Closed at 11pm floor my flight that was due to arrive at midnight despite arriving a half hour early. There were 4 flights that landed within minutes of each other. Pretty bad that an airport car rental doesn't stay open for the last flights of 5 distention airlines. Negativ: Nothing! They were closed. What could i have liked?

Reserved standard car and got stuck with a minivan...Positiv: Car was clean. Other than that not much positive about my experience. Negativ: Had reserved a Buick Verano or equivalent standard just over 2 weeks before going to pick it up. Took over an hour in the line (Budget's desk was closed after hours so we had to go to the Avis line). Very slow service. They said they didn't have any types of cars available at all and if I wanted to drive away the only option I had was a minivan. It was fine, I mean it was something to drive, just disappointed I didn't get what I wanted and that I picked up the minivan needing a oil change bad right when I got it. Over $500 for 4 days seems like a lot to walk away afterwards with such a sour taste in your mouth. Do not recommend.
Poor customer serviceNegativ: Wasn't able to rent the car due to all I had for a credit card was my debit bank card. Agent said they don't take them anymore, even to run to run it as a credit card. Would of been nice to know when I made the reservation. Had no problem at another car rental agency.
Cheaper than airportPositiv: Saved $200 by getting car at this location instead of the Rochester airport. Negativ: $20 charge plus tolls for use of EasyPass seemed a little excessive. Also, seats of vehicle were stained.
Flight cancelled, decided to drive home... Budget really stepped upPositiv: Needless to say I was a bit stressed. The Budget guys were great. The rep noticed by looking at my license that it was my birthday, and upgraded me to a Mustang for a super low rate. They were very friendly. And super helpful. Negativ: There was a line at the beginning, but they dealt with it well, letting us all know how long it would take to get to us, and assuring us all we'd be taken care of.
Positiv: Agents all very kind and professional. Driver who gave me a ride to my mechanic was a crack up Negativ: Car reeked of cigarettes.
Positiv: Customer service was very good, helpful and prompt on each occasion that I made contact. Although the the car provided was different from the one I was expecting it was fine, very well presented and no problems. Negativ: I was disappointed at what I thought to be an excessive cost charged to return the car at another location (Portland). Yours is a very large rental company with, I'm sure many vehicles, and Portland is a fairly major location. Surely it doesn't cost you an amount that was well in excess of the actual rental cost to get that car back to its original location?

Reservation and no car available Negativ: Reserved a car around 11:30am, went to pickup at 5pm and i was told there wasn't any cars available.
They said reserving online verses calling their agents directly that the two cannot keep in sync and cars tend to sell out if you you make reservations online.
Positiv: Car,a Hyundai Accent, was a bit smaller than expected, but proved to be a good ride and fuel efficient.Negativ: SiriusXM no activated, no auto trunk opener, no center console.
Positiv: We loved being able to add an additional driver for only $3 per day. Very nice service.

Transportation SurprisePositiv: The staff was friendly and helpful. We were offered and accepted an upgraded at not cost.Negativ: I assumed they ran a shuttle to/from the airport. Wrong! Upon calling after landing, was told they weren't allowed to run a shuttle on airport property. So, had to take a taxi to/from their location. Extra cost subtracted somewhat form otherwise great rental price. The fact that shuttle was not available should have been made very clear on website.
Paid too much for the rentalPositiv: The staff at the East Main Street location were on point. They were very accommodating, professional and friendly, I was picked up timely and returned the vehicle without incident. Despite the fact that the West Henrietta location sent me to their location instead of one nearby. Negativ: The cost of the vehicle was very expensive. In addition, I was charged a $300.00 deposit. The vehicle was difficult to drive due to its configuration. I was denied when I asked for an upgrade.
Positiv: Pickup was excellent. The people at desk were very friendly and helpful. They actually HAD a choice of 3 vans for me to pick from. The last time I rented a VAN from another agency they had NO VANS when i went to pickup. They also took the time to show me all the gadgets on the van and how to use them. Very impressed.Negativ: I didn't like the drop-off but was probably due to the airport location. There was absolutely no one in the garage where I dropped the van, and no one in the terminal. I wasn't sure exactly what to do with the van and keys, so I took a lucky guess. I hope I was right, no one there to confirm anything.

Positiv: I accidently made the reservation online a day early. They didnt give me a hassle about it at all and took off the extra day charge that i had already paid for online without me even asking. I didnt realize it at first when they gave me the reciept and wasnt going to ask since it was my mistake but i appreciated that they didnt charge me for it.Negativ: I added insurance online when i was booking it, and when i picked up the car the lady tried to get me to buy even more insurance and said that because i had booked online i didnt get the right insurance or something. I said no and it was okay but it was confusing and irritating.
Why are you like this Rochester?!? Positiv: First off why does kayak have so many hidden fees when I got to pick up my car at the airport there was a huge tax that I wasn’t prepared for. Also they put in a link for a car insurance that isn’t great and you can’t get rid of want to sign up for. Once I got to the hertz rental Rochester had a huge tax for picking up the car that was never mentioned in the kayak receipt for the car and they were completely pushy about the insurance even though I told them that I had individual insurance . They were incompetent and I got a car without cruise control. What car doesn’t come with cruise control standard? When I go to Chicago the staff were friendly and confident they couldn’t believe that the Hertz Rochester give me a car without cruise control and up sold the insurance which was unnecessary. I most likely will never use kayak again at least with other competitors I get an honest price at the beginning and I don’t get sold insurance that I don’t need or wantNegativ: I really didn’t like the fact they were hidden fees through kayak. I also don’t like the fact that I was sold insurance on kayak without being told that I also would be advised to get the insurance through the rental company.
