Tire pressureNegativ: Low tire pressure alarm sounded on the second day of our rental. I checked the air pressure in all four tires - over 50 psi in three tires and less than 25 in the fourth. Obviously, this is a safety issue that could have resulted in a blow out.
Avis' staff should perform simple checks like this (also oil and other fluids) as a part of their prep.

A horrible experience Positiv: The car was great and super clean Negativ: They charged me 196 for just a couple of hours and when I discussed that issue with them, they changed the amount for 137 dollars even my estimate price was 76 dollars!!
SurprisedNegativ: I had a very long wait in line (there were only two people ahead of me). The man who processed my pickup was extremely unfriendly. He offered me additional insurance and waivers. When I politely declined, he treated me as if I was ignorant while using scare tactics to get me to buy them (I'd already verified my coverage with my insurance and said as much). He then handed me my paperwork and asked me to initial in 4 different places. Apparently he assumed I wasn't going to read the paperwork - he'd overcharged me by $11. When I asked why their was a difference between my quote amount via Expedia and his amount he said he didn't know and didn't offer to look at the bill. When I continued to read he acted irritated and took the paper. He looked over it and then changed something on the computer. He said he'd put me in a different car (he didn't because he'd already gotten the keys and didn't swap the keys). He offered no other explanantion and asked me to sign again. There was no thank you or have a nice day.
car not available Positiv: i ended up with a nicer car BUT i had to pay double the price Negativ: the car class i had rented at my reserved pick up time was not available and the agent was not apologetic in the least! he told me i could wait around for an unknown period of time of i wanted to see what became available? sure... because i have nothing better to do?
Negativ: I would like a real key that you put in the ignition. NOT a push button.
Positiv: Easy to get a same day rental.Negativ: Credit check for renting and turned down for no reason. They don't check out the car to make sure no damage before its given to you. You have t g find your own car.
Good value rentalPositiv: Great quality car and no mechanical problems. Efficient service at the desk. Negativ: Budget should work out a shuttle to the Newport News Amtrak station. It cost me more than a days rental to get to and from the station to the rental agency.

Poorly staffedNegativ: Went to pick up my rental car at the airport and there was one lady trying to work through a line of 15 people. Why would you not schedule enough people to meet customer demands? I nope'd out of there and walked over to Hertz which had cars at the same price but with no line.

Great price and excellent service!Positiv: Reasonable price for a 4 day rental over the holiday weekend! The front desk associate was super friendly and recommended the newer of two car models available which turned out to be a great choice- it had only 15,000 miles and was spotless! Check-out was quick and check-in was even quicker!! Overall great experience!

Positiv: The car we received was a perfect size. I love the gas mileage it got. We didn't have to spend a great deal of money on gas and time stopping to get gas. Helpful people at the airport and at the place we actually got the car from. Negativ: We did not know that the car rental place was not at the airport and there was not a shuttle to the place we had to pick up our car. That was a big shocker. The young lady at the airport called the place that we rented the car from and we were well taken care of.
The car windows were so dirty that we couldn't see out of them at night. We had asked the guy who cleans the car to clean them again but even his second round of cleaning was terrible. He acted as if we were putting him out.

Excellent servicePositiv: Th vehicle was super neat. Excelent model a great ride. Phone service and assistance were great. I needed a couple of more days with the vehicle and the extension for delivery was made without problems.Negativ: Probably Sunday office service till 12pm. Couple of more hours for Sunday could be great.
Extremely Poor Customer ServicePositiv: The car was clean and well-maintained and delivered as promised.Negativ: The customer service was horrendous. I called to change my pickup time and they said it was changed. When I arrived one of the front desk clerks was extremely rude and said that because I did not change my pickup time (which I did) they would not honor my next rental. She did not explain the policies or offer any kind of helpful advice. I will not use this location again.
Insurance problemsNegativ: Due to a delay in service on Amtrack I wasn't able to pick up the car on the day scheduled, they gave my car away, then I had to buy there insurance from Hertz which I payed for additional insurane from Alliance
Had a reservation but there were no vehicles availablePositiv: Nothing.Negativ: I booked the reservation online and was told my a Hertz rep that I'd be able to arrive early and get my car WITHOUT cancelling/changing my initial reservation in advance of arriving. When I got there, they had no record of me asking to pick up my car 90 minutes earlier as I had requested via phone call so I had to wait 90 minutes for my original reservation time. At that time, they didn't have a car for me even though I had already paid and reserved a car for that time. I ended up walking to Enterprise to get a last minute car from them at a higher price and after wasting 2 hours of my time.
