Then the low tire pressure sensor came on and i had no air pressure gauge in the car, nor did i know how much pressure to put in the tires. i bought a tire air pressure guide and was not reimbursed for it.
Wouldn't take my debit cardPositiv: We had booked a pickup to carry some cargo. Their policy is no debit cards to rent pickups. We could have rented a minivan or car but neither could carry our cargo. We declined and went to U-Haul instead.Negativ: I don't like that I am penalized for Not owning a credit card. Positiv: We rented in Tucson, and little did we know there are two locations, and one is NOT at the airport. There was no attempt made to help or correct the situation, and we ended up using a different company. After 13 hours of travel with 2 kids under 3, you would have thought an apology and a little more help could have been provided.

No pickup/drop off at airportNegativ: We called for a pickup and they said we had to take a taxi. We asked why, everyone else who was off site picked up customers and had drop off. They said their service saved you money by eliminating on site charges. OK so you don't pay onsite charges, but you pay high taxi charges, have to add extra time when returning to airport because you have to get another taxi to get to airport. I ended up NOT using this rental and used the onsite Rental. Enterprise Rentals were so much better, Great customer service, Very outgoing. Never again AVIS

We took pictures when we got the car just in case they tried to pin it on us. When we returned the car the same guy said "oh there are a lot of dings and scratches" it is up to the airport if they will charge us. We told him he have pictures that was how we got the car and you said not to worry. They better not try to pin this on us. Found out that also happened to a friend of ours only they did not have pictures and had to pay. Also they never told us that we had to have proof of liability insurance in case we get stopped by the police they would take the car. Thankfully my son sent us our policy just in case. He said it is a new law the last 7 months. Would have been nice to know before we left.

We had to rush and get the car from other carriers from the airport in the last minute for more money. Whose fault is this? Never got my rentalNegativ: My flight was delayed. I attempted calling the local hertz desk I was renting from to let them know I would be arriving late, but no answer. I show up at 1pm, find out counter closed at 12pm. I gave number for after hours a call, no answer. This is Saturday, they are closed Sunday, so no rental for me for the weekend :(
Negativ: The car I had originally ordered (compact car) was not cleaned and available upon my arrival therefore I had to pay an additional $20 for an (intermediate sedan) which was not a part of my original budget.
Negativ: Scheduled to pick up Saturday at location that closed for the weekend before our flight landed. Nothing on the reservation indicated that the location closed. We paid a cab to get to location and were stranded. Talked to Hertz and got big argument about refund and cancellation charges. Still haven't seen the credit. No apology, just abuse.
Will NEVER use Hertz again.

Kayak and Hertz Make a MessNegativ: I reserved a car to be picked up at the Tucson airport. When I checked in I discovered that my reservation had been changed to an offsite location 25 minutes away so I had to take a cab there. When I arrived they had no cars to rent and were sending cars from the airport!!! I had to wait almost three hours for a vehicle.
When they agent was finally able to access the booking the credit card I used many months ago had been cancelled and so therefore the booking I made could not be accessed. The new booking that had to be made gave me a rate that was 50% higher! What a mess!

Positiv: The car great mileage and comfort for being a small hatchback.Negativ: I was charged a unexplained fee of 33 dollars despite that the car was returned with a full tank of gas and while picking up the car, I was ignored when I greeted with unfriendly customer service and briefly ignored upon walking in.
Negativ: The first car picked up was very dirty and had 1/4 of a tank of gas. The rear tires were making a lot of noise so had to exchange that car for another one. The second car had gas but was dirty inside and out. We were not very happy with Hertz

Someone at another rental car counter told me Dollar was affiliated with Thrifty and I could get the car from them. But I spent some time thinking I was stranded.
Reservation not honoredPositiv: Nothing Negativ: When I arrived at the counter I was told that they do not take same day reservations. When I protested that I already had the reservation made they told me no cars were available. Ended up renting from enterprise.
Dirty car interiorPositiv: The car was a fantastic value. Great rental price, and the car got fantastic gas mileage. Pickup was quick and easy.Negativ: The interior of the car was filthy. The car was a 2016 with 28,XXX miles on it, but had stains covering almost every inch of the seats and the plastic was covered with some white paint or something. Also, the transmission felt like it was going to drop out of the car at lower speeds. Not very comfortable to drive in the city.
Fuel Charges!Positiv: Nice new vehicle. Good price. Negativ: Charged for fuel even though gas gauge needle was past F! I called. Charges might be reversed. i have to wait 5 days to know for sure. (Because I gassed up ~20 miles from airport. Even though more that full upon return ...)

Request ignored, then fulfilled.Negativ: When we arrived in Tucson it was 111 degrees so I requested a car with a light colored exterior (and interior, if possible). The employee acted as if he understood but when we went to the car it was a charcoal gray (almost black) with a black interior. There were at least 10 other cars on the lot that were silver or white. We went back in, stood in line and requested a different car. We were given a silver car - a much better option for our 5 days in the record-breaking heat.
