Positiv: It was easy to pick up the vehicle.
Negativ: The ability to contact people I rented a vehicle from at the branch is impossible.
Positiv: Friendly staff, clean off-airport office (not too many people around -- felt safe during covid), nice car, good price.
Positiv: Staff was friendly, drop off was easy
Negativ: I reserved a luxury mid-sized sedqn, when I arrived (on time), nothing even close was available, was given a station wagon, which wasn't even close to what I was looking for.
Positiv: Absolutely nothing.
Negativ: I prepaid for my vehicle before arriving. Upon arrival to pick up my vehicle they said since I did not pay with a credit card they would have to refund my account which would take a few business days and that I would have to pay with a credit card instead. The only way my payment would be good on my debit card and a refund would not have to be issued was for me to take a downgrade in vehicle.
Positiv: Good value for the money for the type of car I booked. Easy to book online and they had it all correct when I arrived.
Negativ: At first they didn't have the car type I wanted, and were willing to put me into an SUV, but I wasn't looking to drive one of those. They then put me into a VW Passat, which I think was in the class of car I booked, but honestly, I don't know. The Passat was fine, but not that great. Drop off was the big problem. I had an early morning flight from SFO, and their office didn't open until 9AM. They have a key drop box, but I couldn't even get into the lot that morning, and some sketchy guy was hanging out there. Luckily my pre-booked Uber showed up then, so make sure you pay attention to when you have to return the car.
Positiv: Fast pick up and brand new car
Negativ: Agent at the dealership gave us a different drop off date and the car was extremely dirty
Negativ: Car still had bottle of water and paperwork from previous renter in it. Return was unnecessarily difficult. Site was closed and entrance blocked off. Had to call toll free number for directions. I was on hold forever before someone came on. In the end I parked car in driveway and walked into compound to put key in Dropbox. Then I had to get an uber to the airport. Lovely.
Negativ: I had to cancel my trip due to the coronavirus abd shutdowns in San Francisco and Los Angeles and Sixt was the only supplier that failed to give me 100% refund. They assessed a 3-day penalty and only after my complaint gave me a voucher for the amount they assessed. I live in Thailand and it is doubtful that I can use the voucher within the deadline forced on me.
Positiv: The vehicle was comfortable, super easy to pick up and return
Negativ: Gas gauge appeared off.
Positiv: Good deal on the convertible car for the day. Employees were helpful at Union Square at time of visit.
Negativ: My reservation said to pick up my car at Fisherman's Wharf but the car wasn't there so I had to go to Union Square to pick it up, but the employee at Fisherman's Wharf told me I had to call customer service myself and let them know I was coming. Then at Union Square, the employees had a difficult - lengthy - time figuring out how to switch everything for me to rent the car. Overall it took 2 hours to rent this car when most of the time was spent waiting. Not employees fault, the system seems to be partially broken.
Positiv: Nothing! Because of the COVID-1 virus we had to cancel our trip I called Sixt rental and they canceled my rental but would not talk to me about a refund. I had to email them. I've emailed twice and still have had no reply. Once on 3/14/2020 and again on 3/28/2020. I will never rent anything from such a sorry company again.
Negativ: I will never use Kayak or Sixt ever again. In a time like this to completely ignore their customer is a shame.
Negativ: Trip was cancelled due to the coronavirus epidemic. Company wouldn’t give me a full refund on car, even though cancellation is beyond anyone’s control.
